Adcom GFA-5800 stereo power amplifier complete with original box, foam inserts, copy of owner's manual, and detachable power cord.
Designed by Nelson Pass. Rated at 250 watts into 8 ohms, 400 watts into 4 ohms. Utilizes 32 MOSFETS (16 per channel) and biased for Pure Class A operation to 10 watts.
Massive primary toroidal transformer for the output stage and independent transformers for the input. Robustly constructed (62 lbs) with air cooled tunnels venting to the rear.
Originally $1,600 ($2,717 in 2014 dollars). In my experience, you would have to spend thousands more today on a new amplifier that approaches this performance.
