Acurus RL-11 line stage preamp

Mondial Design Acurus RL-11: This is an outstanding line stage preamp that has been lightly used in my small office system for several years. Mondial Design produced the Acurus line to provide a lower priced option to their Aragon models, and Acurus has enjoyed a strong reputation for its excellent build quality and sound. The RL-11 features first-rate internal components with discrete class A circuitry; motorized volume and balance controls; 1% metal film resistors; polypropylene caps; matched pairs of transistors; and dual mono power supply with low-noise transformer. The remote control, while rather basic, works smoothly and provides volume, balance, mute, and on/off functions. The RL-11 was reviewed in Issue #68 of the "The $ensibile Sound" magazine, and the reviewer concluded: "Careful measuring and listening with the RL-11 and five other solid state preamps costing two to four times as much produced not a whit of difference. You get the same clean sound, the same dynamics and imaging -- whether you pay as little as $795 or as much as $3500. The Acurus RL-11 Remote line preamp gets my top recommendation."

This unit is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition, and will make a terrific addition to a modestly-priced system. It’s good enough that a very fine audio system can be built around it.
