This listing is for a vintage McIntosh MAC 4100 AM/FM stereo receiver. This item has been tested and is in complete operational condition. Both channels are clean and clear with no hum, buzz, noise, or distortion. All switches and potentiometers are smooth and quiet. All lamps and indicators are also working. This unit has never had service or modifications performed the PC boards and electrical components are factory original. AM and FM stations are received all across their frequency range with no noise or drift. Local NPR classical and jazz stations have an organic texture to speech and music that is only experienced with the finest components.

The 4100 is considered the best receiver McIntosh produced and is a laboratory instrument with superior audio reproduction. I have been listening to this piece in my main system and find no faults. Sources are Linn LP12/Ekos/Signet TK10ML, Bang & Olufsen RX2/Soundsmith SMMC2, and Bang & Olufsen 6500/Soundsmith SMMC3 front ends. Speaker system is classic ADS L1230 monitors.

Cosmetic condition is absolutely beautiful with no detriment not even a fingerprint. This piece is physically clean with no dirt or nicotine contamination. No dents, no dings, no scratches, no corrosion inside or out. The meters and dial glass are perfectly illuminated with the correct hue. The orange PVC filters for the meter illumination are intact as are the side green PVC filters for the dial glass. This example looks like it just came out of a time capsule easily in 9/10 shape. If you demand the best example of vintage gear you will not be disappointed a true gem.
