This AUCTION IS for A PRIMARE systems SP 31.7 MKII in GREAT CONDITION

A truly exceptional audiophile preamplifier & surround processor. . Designed by Michael Bladelius (Threshold, Classé, and Pass Labs)

The Primare SP 31.7 MKII gives you the best of both worlds. It's
basically the Primare award winning PRE30 plus a 5.1 processor. The asking
price is less than most PRE30 but gives you the flexibility of multichannel and
home theater use. The unit is black and cosmetically pristine and lightly
used (in back up system) audiophile multi-channel preamp-processor (Balanced) from
original owner in a non-smoking, no pet home. This unit has been meticulously
cared for and used by a fastidious owner who has taken great pains to maintain
this unit in mint condition. The pictures do not begin to show how clean this
unit is. It is being sold as-is, seller warrants that the unit has been tested
and functions to factory specifications.  Unit comes with manual, power plug and remote
in original double-boxed shipping container.

For a
country with a population of fewer than 6 million, Denmark has an amazingly
high profile when it comes to manufacturers of audio and home theater products.
Bang & Olufsen, Dynaudio, Vifa, Peerless, Jamo, Gryphon, Ortofon, Thule,
Dali, TacT—the list goes on and on. Primare (pronounced "prime-AIR")
has been around since the 1980s, and their products combine outstanding
industrial design with an emphasis on sound quality. In the late '90s, the
Primare team was joined by Michael Bladelius, well-known for his analog and
digital design work for Threshold, Classé, and Pass Labs. Primare products are
now manufactured in Sweden, while the head office and design center remain in
Denmark.

The SP31.7 uses proprietary DSP circuitry developed by Primare. It provides up
to 192KHZ/24bit processing using Burr-Brown's PCM 1738 DAC's. Video connections
may be turned off on a per-input basis to avoid interference with audio purity.
The SP31.7 also has outstanding bass management, which can be configured
differently for Stereo PCM, Dolby Digital, & different again for DTS
sources. You can assign a source more than one input, so you can have a CD
player with straight analogue bypass on one input, and then have it setup up
for Dolby PLII on another. The SP31.7 is also an exceptional analogue stereo
preamplifier, with RCA or balanced inputs and outputs, based on Primare's initial
PRE 30.

Surround music takes on another level utilizing the 5.1/7.1 analogue audio
inputs for SACD & DVD-A. This is the way these formats were meant to be
heard. Or if you want the next generation high resolution audio from Blu-ray,
merely connect the 5.1 audio outputs from a suitable player, and enjoy
uncompressed PCM, Dolby True HD, or DTS Master Audio high resolution codecs in
superb audiophile quality, that will blow the socks off the "all whistles
& bells" competition. Truly Fantastic!

Robert Deutsch from “Home Theatre Review” concluded:

“This preamp processor, purely and simply, handles sound
with the respect and finesse that you lot seem prepared only to attribute to
purist audio components. This could be the product that makes the scales fall from
your ears…Normally; you don't expect this level of utter competence from a
small specialist. Primare is one of very few specialists to manage the
seemingly-impossible: creating an A/V processor with the usefulness and
competence of a Japanese A/V receiver, yet - miracle of miracles - at a price
that's not in keeping with Theta, Mark Levinson, Krell or, yes, Lexicon. The
Primare SP31.7, you see, costs only $4,000.”

He also said, “the Swedes are thinking of people just like
you. Primare's stated dictum is that '...the SP31.7 disproves the idea that
exceptional stereo performance from analogue sources must be compromised by the
inclusion of digital processing and video circuitry. The SP31.7 is designed as
two totally separate units mounted in one case: a fully-balanced pure analogue
stereo preamplifier, and, via independent powersupplies,
a high quality 7.1 channel Dolby Digital & DTS processor with full video
switching.” (http://hometheaterreview.com/primare-sp317-av-preamp-reviewed/)

Sound and Vision.com said:

“For a full-featured preamp-processor, the SP31.7 has just
about the least cluttered front panel I've seen: two knobs, five small buttons,
and a discreet display in the middle. The front panel of the SP31.7 has a
brushed-metal finish that looks elegant in that understated Scandinavian way.
As we shall see, that beauty is not just skin deep. In terms of pure sound
quality, I give the nod to the SP31.7 over the Anthem AVM 20. The Primare
SP31.7 preamplifier/Multi-channel processor obviously has solid engineering
behind it, and goes about its business in an unobtrusive, highly competent way,
doing everything asked of it.”
