Here is some useful info and specs for this Model.

The Model 990 has full 7.1 channel output capability whether connected to a single multi-channel power amplifier or a series of amplifiers via either standard RCA-type audio connections, or balanced XLR-type audio connections. This makes the Model 990 suitable for use in both consumer and professional installations.

Surround Sound and Digital Audio Processing:

Surround sound processing includes: DTS-ES Discrete/Matrix, DTS-96/24, DTS NEO-6, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Virtual Speaker, and Dolby Headphone. DTS Neo:6 and Dolby Pro Logic IIx can reprocess two-channel material into a 6/7 channel sound field.

The 990 can digitally reprocess standard PCM digital audio (such as standard CDs though a digital audio connection) up to 192KHZ/24bit audio resolution, and includes 192 kHz 24-bit digital audio converters (DACs) for all channels.

Crossover Control and Lip Synch Delay:

The 990 offers extensive Crossover control, with independent crossover adjustment capability for each channel, which allows the user to adjust the points at which audio frequencies directed to either the main or satellite speakers and the Subwoofer.

In addition, the 990 also has an automatic speaker setup via a built-in tone generator and provided microphone.

Another useful feature is Lip Synch delay that is intended to correct audio-delay issues on DVDs and digital television audio sources.

Audio Inputs and Outputs:

Digital audio inputs include 5 Optical and 2 Coaxial connections. The Model 990 also has 6 analog audio inputs, including a standard phono input for use with a turntable.

On the audio output end, the 990 has both a digital optical and digital coaxial output for use with a MiniDisc or CD recorder (however, some digital audio signals may be copy-protected), and two analog audio record outputs for use with tape decks or a CD recorder's analog audio inputs.

Balanced and Unbalanced Audio Output - Subwoofer Provisions:

The analog preamp audio outputs of the Model 990 include both 7 channel RCA and balanced connections, as well as provisions for two powered subwoofers.
NOTE: When using two subwoofers, the subwoofer output is dual mono, not stereo -- this is due to the fact that low frequencies at the subwoofer level are non-directional.

SACD, DVD-Audio, and Bass Managment:

In addition, the 990 also has direct 7-channel analog audio inputs as well as bass management for DVD-Audio and SACD sources with crossover points at 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, or 200Hz. This is especially useful when using smaller speakers in combination with a subwoofer.

Video Inputs and Upconversion:

The Model 990 features 5 composite and S-video inputs, three Component video inputs, and two DVI inputs. The Component and DVI connections are HD-compatible; in addition the DVI connections are HDCP compatible.

The 990 also features Composite and S-Video to Component video upconversion in order to make connections between different devices, such as VCRs, DVD players, DVD recorders, and digital televisions using the 990 easier.

Monitor Output Options:

Another convenience is the inclusion of composite, S-Video, Component, and DVI monitor outputs, making the 990 usable with just about any modern television. In addition, the 990's onscreen display setup and function menu can be viewed through either the Composite, S-Video, or Component video outputs.

Additional Features:

The Model 990 offer several additional features that are intended to add flexibility.

The inclusion of Second Zone audio and video capability. The Second zone feature offers both composite and S-video feed, as well as an analog audio feed, which can be set for either fixed or variable audio control. The second zone requires an additional amplifier that is separate from your main system.

Dynamic range control, which aids in setting the degree of the loud-to-soft audio range in DVD soundtracks.

An AM/FM Tuner with 30 channel presets.

Front Panel Headphone output featuring Dolby Headphone Surround Processing.

Front Panel Audio/Video input featuring composite, S-video, analog audio, and digital optical connections.

Two remote controls are provided, one for the main preamp functions and a second for use with the Second Zone feature.
