Update: I have listed these before... lotsa interest but no buyers as folks want me to ship and I request pickup only (Philly). So... I will consider shipping but note, they can only go by truck, weigh 285 lbs total and will come in three or four boxes. This worries me even though I have the original panel boxes. Feel free to discuss shipping with me. I also dropped the price a bit but I really can't let these go for less.. they are just worth it. One more thing, after I sell these, the VTL Deluxe 300s in the pictures are next to go.... package deal???

I can’t believe I am selling these… These were my dream speakers. As it turns out, I just don’t listen to my big system anymore. My world revolves around my computer and home office and my real living room is dominated by Her and the home theater system.
There is nothing wrong with these speakers that I know of. The feet do have some very minor scratches on them that I blacked out with a marker. The crossover is the bi-amp/bi-wire model so it has the options to wire it however you want, even with a single amp and standard cable. I purchased them new from Overture in June, 1999. This sale does not include cabling.

I don’t have to sell you on the sound… they are what you think they are. I owned many speakers in my day including a pair of Martin Logan Quests before these and there is just no comparison. Back in the late 80s I purchased my first Magnepan speakers, they were the 2.5Rs. After falling in love with them, I wanted more bass and more dynamics so I moved on but never found that wonderful sound of Magnepan. So, eventually, I came back and ordered these MG20s without even hearing them. Not sorry, they are fantastic.
They do need some beefy amps. I use a pair of VTL Deluxe 300s tube amps and they worked great.
I prefer pickup at my home only in the western suburbs of Philadelphia around the intersection of I-76 and I-476. I do have all of the original packaging but I don’t trust it. If you really want me to ship…. Contact me and we can work something out I guess.

Besides, you can stop by to hear them before you buy. Just like these speakers, I have nothing to hide.

Questions for the seller
Bruce, I can only view your response to me. Wardrobe boxes or heavy appliance boxes...or masonite or plywood panels taped to orig's(prevent puncture)??? How about the VTLs? cond,etc...?
Hi Dan, I can tape heavy boxes material to the sides and edges, I think a light plywood would work. I will pay for the packing materials etc. but not the shipping or insurance (I have no idea what that would cost). I have the original packaging for the panels, but not the crossovers, feet etc. as I think the dealer received them in a bulk box from Magnepan... I don't think I ever had those boxes. So, the total boxes will be at least three maybe four but I think only the total weight counts when shipping by truck. The VTLs are in good condition. The power tubes are maybe 5 years old but have stupidly few hours on them... and I have boxes of replacements as I replaced them often when I used to listen to this rig. The power tubes are Russian with the square holes in the stators (supposedly the best Russian Svetlana). About 5? years ago, I replaced the on/off rocker switches with replacements from VTL... I did the soldering myself. About 8? years ago, I had a VTL dealer check them out and they installed a VTL-provided upgrade which included an extra fuse and some internal wiring. The other tubes (I forget their function) are in good condition... I have a few replacements by different manufacturers and I swapped them in and out until I found the combination that sounded the best to me. You can have all of the old tubes.... they will fit in a big box as I have a bunch. Some of these "old" tubes are actually new, I was just playing with different ones. If you have a local friend or maybe someone from a local audio club, they can come and check them out for you. I don't know of such a club but Google is your friend and they are probably around Philly. Oh, check your private messages...... and let me know if you are receiving and reading these. Peace Bruce
More info on 300's? I'd be conserned w/orig cardbrd boxes also(but they make great inner box for a plywood suitcase),case could be made to hold both spkrs(if you have means to lift to load)stands & xos in another or same(again assuming you have means to load that much weight)separated by plywood. If you are willing to buid crates-let me know Regards, Dan
Hi Dan, I don't know about building crates...... really didn't think about it. I will get back to you. Re the 300s, I just responded to another guy about them... check out the dialog. I think you can see all dialogs. Peace Bruce in Philly
Bruce, Any further thought on crating htese up? Regards, Dan
Hi Dan, Not much... I will try to sell locally.... getting traction but nothing serious yet. I really don't feel like building a crate... like that sounds like a ton of work. Maybe I can buy a few wardrobe boxes and apply some more layers with packing tape, then insure the heck out of them. If you would like to look into paying the freight and insurance, I will do the extra boxing. Total weight is about 285lbs with three or four boxes. I don't have the boxes the crossovers came in.... not sure I ever had them as I think they came in a bulk box to the retailer.... but I have the original boxes and liner materials for the panels. If you want to talk to me personally, connect to me via my photography blog, TravelThroughPictures... You can find my name and alt address there. Bruce
