Magnepan 3.6R w/ Mye Stands Off White and Oak

Up for your consideration is a pair of lovingly cared for Magnepan 3.6R speakers with Mye Stands. Wood is oak, fabric is off white, stands are "almond".  This is a really striking color combo.  
The Mye Stands are a noticeable improvement from the factory stands not only for sound quality but also for stability.  The stands REALLY lock the speakers to the floor.  I've been running them using the crossover in my Lyngdorf integrated and bi-amping.  Each "tweak" takes them up a notch.  

Using the factory crossovers and Mye Stands, they sound great but a high quality active crossover will add that last 10-15% and really solidifies the imaging, the bass, and adds noticeable clarity.  In fact, even if you think you know the sound of the 3.6s you may very well be shocked if you've never heard them with a good active crossover.  Even the addition of the Anti-Cable tweeter jumpers improve the sound.


The following is included: Pair of speakers, factory stands, Mye Stands, factory crossovers, Anti-Cable tweeter jumpers, factory jumpers, owner's manual, binding post wrench, tweeter protector strips, and factory packing for both the speakers and the Mye Stands. Please note that I did not purchase the optional "coasters" for the Mye Stands for use on hardwood floors. If you plan to use them on hardwood floors, you can use quarters or something similar under the spikes.


Condition: The speakers are a solid 8.  There are a few small "dents" in the wood trim if you look hard but they came from the factory that way.  The rear plates at the binding posts have a few scratches from dealing with the damnable Maggie binding posts (PLEASE Magnepan, go to nice 5-way binding posts).  The crossovers have some scratches from, again, dealing with those frustrating posts and some that were there from the factory (Magnepan continues to get better, but their quality control is still not up there with many others).


These versus the 3.7s?  Ears and preferences vary but I've had the opportunity to hear the 3.7s.  Nice speakers and, in some ways, slightly better than the 3.6 but I wouldn't pay the extra for a pair of 3.7s.  Also, the 3.6s are far easier to tweak because, unlike the the 3.7s, they can be bi-wired/amped and the factory crossovers can easily be bi-passed (the crossovers on the 3.7s are INSIDE the speaker itself).
