Rarely available on the used market, I'm selling my K&K Audio Maxxed-Out MM phono stage. This is the latest board design from K&K and upgradeable to MC (and other features) if you so desire. The Standard Maxxed-Out uses high quality parts such as ElectroCube, RTI, Panasonic, and Elna SilMic II capacitors, Takman resistors, Cardas connectors, Cardas silver solder, and Lundahl. It has both RCA and XLR outputs. MM gain is switchable between 38 and 44dB. The unit came with 80's vintage 6N23P Voskhod tubes, which are supposedly the best there is, and I also have a spare matched '70's NOS pair. My unit also had the optional stepped volume control, which can be deactivated via switches if you want to run it in a traditional way. From the K&K site: "The output impedance of the K&K Audio Maxxed-Out Preamplifier is low enough to drive a volume control directly, thereby facilitating phono-only systems without the need for a line stage preamp. The Volume Control is a shunt device that puts two fixed, low value Audio Note resistors in the signal path, preserving the balanced/unbalanced output versatility. The variable shunt element is custom constructed from a 23 position Seiden switch and discrete surface mount audio-grade metal film resistors. Only one resistor is present as a shunt element at each volume control setting in each channel." The unit is in 9/10 condition and meticulously built by me. The only extremely minor flaw is the volume control knob has a slight defect in the powder coating, like maybe there was a speck of dirt on it when the coating was done. In the one pic you can see this with the light hitting it right. It would be inexpensive to get a new knob from K&K if it was an issue. The unit less than 1.5 years old and functions perfectly. The K&K had replaced an EAR 834P and it was a substantial upgrade in every sense. $1300 + shipping (it's $1900 new built in this configuration).
