The H-3000 is the same as this model, but without the variable option. The variable EQ is particularly valuable to those who collect old LPs that do not conform to RIAA standard. This phono can accommodate these by allowing the listener to set EQ the same as the engineer intended.

For RIAA recordings you set RIAA option and listen at the current standard, same as all modern phono stages.
