These superb cans and amps offer excellent value and sonics that compete with phones and amps selling for a lot higher prices. The HE-500 is a very high quality planar headphone that is easy to drive and offers superb sound quality. These phones came out at $899.00 and have received excellent reviews. Unlike most of their competition, that require expensive high powered amps to sound good, the HE-500 technology can be run with moderately priced and powered amps. These planars are like the Magnepans of headphones. Playback summed up with: "Consider this headphone if: you want a headphone that delivers pretty much the full wish list: ultra wide-range frequency response, accurate tonal balance, great bass, excellent resolution of low-level sonic details, and low distortion.
