World Class monitors at a fraction of retail.

This is a very special offering of a pair of custom designed Van L “QUARTETS” by VAN L SPEAKERWORKS of Chicago. One of two pairs ever made to these specifications. Rated 8/10 only due to 2nd owner.

Here are the details: These are monitor speakers with a D’Appolito Configuration (mid/bass-tweeter-mid/bass). My particular gloss black Quartets were custom designed with added ultra high end custom crossover components, silver over pure copper internal wire, hand-picked drivers including hand-built Hiquphon (from Denmark) tweeters, and custom fabricated matching stands. John Van Leishout built just two pairs with these specifications. I have one of the two pairs. At the time these were designed and built the “Quartet Plus” offering sold for $3595.00. These have an additional $1,000 just in custom parts over and above the Quartet Plus grade. They come with custom designed and fabricated stands built just for the speakers which feature wire concealment; sand or shot filling; unique outboard leveling and acoustic isolation. The original owner placed the cost of the speakers, parts, labor and custom stands at approximately $6,000. The Quartets will be delivered with the speaker cable required to connect the Ambient Recovery System. (Please refer to the Van L. website for a complete description of this design!!) In short, the system uses dual voice coil drivers and an additional connection between the speakers to pass the differential information between the two speakers. You will note the two additional terminals above the input terminals in the pictures – this is the ambient recovery system connection. The speakers measure 20” x 8” x”14”. They weigh 35 pounds each.

Aside from their incredible accuracy, finesse and resolution, the biggest feature that the Quartets offer is their ability to produce an amazing and adjustable 3 dimensional soundstage. Vocals are strength – they image like all great monitors. Jazz, acoustical and classical music shine on these.

The speakers are available to audition (just a couple hours north of Chicago) and I will arrange to drive some distance from southern Wisconsin for delivery. While I prefer local pick-up the speakers and stands can be shipped.

A quick google search and visit to the Van L. Speakerworks website will offer a full description and specification for the speakers as well as the patented ambient recovery system.

Thanks for looking. I believe they are fairly priced - particularly considering other speakers I have owned. Serious offers will be considered and appreciated.
