Save 1000 off the retail price!

For sale is a pair of Source Technologies 1.7 XL monitors designed and built by John Sollecito. John Sollecito was the co-designer of JSE Infinite Slope Speakers, which now has become Joseph Audio. These speakers rarely come up for sale used. Source Technologies has been making audiophile speakers for over 20 years and John Sollecito has been making audiophile speakers for almost 30 years.

These are one the best monitors on the market, and better than anything below $5000. If you like the Joseph Audio Pulsar, you will LOVE these at a FRACTION of the price. These monitors currently retail for $3000/pr.

The monitors use the SEAS Excel 7” Midrange Driver and a 280I Excel silk dome tweeter from Dynavox, built to the specifications of Source Technologies. They are internally bi-wired, use Mundorf Supreme Capacitors in the time-aligned crossover, and have a curved front baffle to reduce diffraction. The cabinets are circumferentially braced and are extremely rigid. The speakers come with magnetic grills and are finished in real black oak on the sides, front, and top. They are finished in high-gloss black on the back and on the bottom. The fit and finish is amazing!

I am selling the stands for $300/pr. The stands are beautifully finished in black oak with high-gloss black on the back and bottom. They are completely filled with 45 lbs of sand, are on 1” spikes, and have rounded edges on the front surface. The stands have a MUCH lower resonance frequency than metal stands and they sonically decouple from the speakers. See my other ad on Audiogon.

The 1.7 XL monitors from Source Technologies are more open and detailed than the monitors from Harbeth. Harbeth speakers have a warm sound; however, they are not as open and detailed as other audiophile monitors because the Harbeth’s break three traditional rules in cabinet design: The cabinets are not rigid (they flex), they have a wide front baffle, and the baffle has sharp edges. Monitors from Sonus Faber have extremely good cabinets (even better than the Source Technologies, but for much more $$$); however, the sound of their monitors tends to be very analytical and lacking in musical warmth. The Source Technologies is something right down the middle between Harbeth and Sonus Faber, and at a fraction of the price.

If you can get to Bloomsburg, PA, I invite you to audition the speakers. You will be amazed! You can bring your own electronics, or audition them with my equipment. You can audition them with or without subwoofers.

I also have two 400W subwoofers for sale. The subwoofers use a custom-built 10” aluminum driver, they are extremely fast and tight, and they blend in seamlessly with the monitors. The subwoofers are driven by a 400W class A/B amp, not a cheap class-D amp, so they do not sound dark. Controls on the back allow you to adjust the crossover, phase, and volume. See my other ad on Audiogon.

I am only selling the speakers because Source Technologies is coming out with a reference pair of floor-standing speakers that will retail for $20,000.

The 1.7 XL monitors are 1.5 years old. The speakers are in MINT condition, I cannot see a scratch or dent on them. I rate them a 9/10 on Audiogon’s conservative scale because they are used.

I have the original box and packing materials. Shipping via UPS Ground (with insurance and signature for delivery) is $111.24 in the continental U.S. Buyer pays shipping. There is no shipping if you pick them up in Bloomsburg, PA. PayPal adds 3.5%.
