Paradigm CC-290 V.6 Monitor Series Center Channel Speaker, with its proprietary SuperDrive technology, combines very high efficiency with very high output and ultra low distortion. These models compete directly with the efficiency and output of major brands of horn speakers they not only play as loud, their sound is authentically high end Paradigm fidelity. Even with moderately powered amplifiers they deliver breathtaking performance, and in classic Paradigm tradition, unparalleled value too!
SuperDrive Technology
Paradigm's SuperDrive technology combines very high efficiency with very high output and ultra-low distortion. As a result, even with moderately powered amplifiers Monitor Series v.6 speakers deliver a higher level of performance than ever before. Much higher efficiency and higher power handling also mean that these speakers can now compete directly with the efficiency and output of major brands of horn speakers. In non-level-matched a/b comparisons, the new Monitor speakers not only play as loud, their sound is authentically high-end. What's more, compared to all other major speaker brands, when it comes to playing loud Monitor v.6 speakers lead the way - and not just in their product category, but compared to speakers selling at more than twice the price
Magne-shield
The 4-Driver and 3-way center channel design uses a mineral-filled polymer enclosure and incorporates Paradigm's Magne-Shield to prevent stray magnetic fields from affecting CRT-based displays.
Crossover: 2nd -order electro-acoustic at 2.5 kHz, 2nd-order electro-acoustic at 250 Hz (bass drivers)
Audio crossovers are a class of electronic filters designed specifically for use in audio applications. Commonly used loudspeaker drivers are incapable of covering the entire audio spectrum with acceptable loudness and lack of distortion by themselves. Thus, crossovers serve the purpose of splitting the audio signal into separate frequency bands which can be handled by individual loudspeaker drivers optimized for those bands. A combination of multiple drivers each catering to a different frequency band is the design pattern for most hi-fi speaker systems. An audio crossover may also be constructed mechanically and is commonly found in full-range speakers, portions of whose cones/dust caps cones are decoupled at progressively higher frequencies.
Frequency Response: 2 dB from 80 Hz - 20 kHz
Frequency response is the measure of any system's spectrum response at the output to a signal of varying frequency (but constant amplitude) at its input. In the audible range it is usually referred to in connection with electronic amplifiers, microphones and loudspeakers. Radio spectrum frequency response can refer to measurements of coaxial cables, category cables, video switchers and wireless communications devices.
8 ohms impedance
The acoustic impedance Z (or sound impedance) is a frequency f dependent parameter and is very useful, for example, for describing the behavior of musical wind instruments. Mathematically, it is the sound pressure p divided by the particle velocity v and the surface area S, through which an acoustic wave of frequency f propagates. If the impedance is calculated for a range of excitation frequencies the result is an impedance curve. Plane, single-frequency traveling waves have acoustic impedance equal to the characteristic impedance divided by the surface area, where the characteristic impedance is the product of longitudinal wave velocity and density of the medium. Acoustic impedance can be expressed in either its constituent units (pressure per velocity per area).
