The Twin Wave monitor is a revolutionary concept in high end, small footprint monitor speaker design. While all other speakers large and small utilize a single high frequency system, the Twin Wave employs two distinctly different high frequency driver systems, each designed to work independently of the other. At the touch of a hidden switch, the listener can rapidly change the monitor from a dome style tweeter to a ribbon tweeter as both drivers are incorporated into the speaker itself ... it's like having two speakers in one.

Dual high frequency drivers means you can literally change the speaker to match the music, your mood or the system you are using it with. Imagine being able to use the ribbon tweeter for light jazz or small scale classical music and then being able to instantly switch over to play rock and techno music via the high power dome style tweeter. Beyond that, the system can be configured for smoother presentation when using an all tube based system AND be equally adept when utilized with a solid state high power system - sometimes you feel like smooth, sometimes you want power, either way Twin Wave is ready for you.

Twin Wave also utilizes a dual cabinet design. Unlike virtually every other monitor speaker ever made which comes in a SINGLE cabinet, we recognized that two cabinets are better than one and designed our speaker to have the benefits of big speaker design yet in a much smaller footprint. Many of the worlds best speakers use a separate cabinet for each of the drivers and stack them on top of one another rather than just trying to cram everything into one box. The reason for this is acoustic isolation. a speaker in its own cabinet sounds better than when it has to share a cabinet with other drivers especially when combining woofers and tweeters. This is why we make the Twin Wave in two cabinets just like the worlds best speakers ... if it works for big speakers it will work for small ones also. The speakers can be placed on a desktop, on a shelf or placed on stands for a flexible in-room installation that meets the widest variety of setups with ease.

AMP - DESCRIPTION:
The HigherFi CHALLENGER 200.2 is a two channel solid state power amplifier rated at 200 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load and 350 watts per channel into a 4 ohm load.

The front panel features twin illuminated VU meters, master volume control making it applicable as a stereo amp or a single input integrated amp. The rear panel has XLR and RCA inputs, removable IEC power cord and a remote turn-on trigger.

This powerful high end amp delivers quiet, low distortion operation with unmatched reliability. This is a private label version specially designed to our specifications and produced and backed for us by Cary Audio. This amp is based on their own popular SA 200.2 amp but with numerous updates and features added.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK
The 200.2 unveiled a soundstage with more realistic openness and space than I have previously heard. I believe that reproducing sound of this quality requires a system to have superb timing with equally good low level detail retrieval. The 200.2 has tremendous bass power with an attendant level of bass definition. The human voice is reproduced with marvelous fidelity via the 200.2, whether it is a solo from Patricia Barber, or the chorus of the Polovtsian Dances. It would have been easy to listen to female vocals and nothing else during the time I have had the 200.2.

The most succinct description that I can offer of the sonic and musical abilities would be to say that it is the musical equivalent of baby bear's porridge. It is just right. The 200.2 amplifier never is too much, or too little of anything. The loudest crescendo isn't exaggerated; the softest caress of a piano key isn't diminished. Feed it an exceptional recording and you get stunning realism in return; feed it a lesser recording and you still can appreciate its musical strengths.

I think I have found the amplifier that I have been looking for.
