"…as far as cost no object, reference-grade audiophile preamps go the Mark Levinson No. 326S is a relative bargain. With it's ability to accommodate numerous source components as well as ability to be integrated into a home theater or control system the No. 326S is far more well rounded in terms of ease of use and livability than many of its competitors. More over, the No. 326S is simply brilliant when it comes to playing back seemingly every genre of music. It is one of the best two channel preamps I've heard to date." From a review by Andrew Robinson of Home Theater Review

This Mark Levinson No. 326S Preamp is New in a Sealed Box and ready to arrive at your door. If you need it to have a phono module, then I can have it professionally installed for an additional $1,100.

I have been an audiophile connoisseur for many years now. I used to travel with the Grateful Dead and hung out with people using $10,000 plus tube microphones, recording in hi resolution. As soon as I heard these live presentation recordings on a B&W system with McIntosh amps, I was hooked. At first, I did what a lot of audiophiles did and I pieced together some decent sounding systems from all different pieces on Audiogon. Threshold, Silverline, European tube amps, Bryston, Tag McLaren, I tried all kinds of gear out. Like a lot of people, I would get something and be pretty happy with it but then I would hear something else that was a lot better and I just kept buying different stuff, constantly questing for better and better sound, to be able to hear the music more like live. I have all these terabyte drives of live music my friends have recorded not just of the Dead but other bands as well. When Bill Kreutzmann from the Dead came over to my last house in Maui he said the sound I had was way better than he has at his homes. And still I was always upgrading and constantly changing out gear. Then one day I heard a friend's system made up of these Revel speakers and Mark Levinson amps that just blew my stuff away. He didn't need to keep trying different wires or tubes or anything. He would hear other people's setups and nothing would sound as good as what he had. He just stuck with the same speakers year after year, he is a happy camper and that seemed good.

My friend has connections in the audio business and always gets a deal. I am the kind of person that could afford to pay full price for my toys, but I just really don't like to. I usually won't buy something unless I can get a really great price. So when my friend told me he would help me put together some complete Revel/Mark Levinson systems for the new house I am buying, I jumped on the chance. I wanted a complete theater and 2, 2-channel setups for different rooms. As I understand it, the designer for Revel used the Mark Levinson amps to drive the speakers as he designed them and it is the most perfect match. So, I went for it and I have been really excited to line up all this stuff for the new house I was buying in Maui. But then, the seller decided at the last minute that she did not really want to sell her house that was perfect for me and that I was already buying all this stereo gear for. She moved back in herself. I was bummed at first, but I just decided it was not meant to be and maybe the market is going to go down again so I am going to wait until later in the year and see if I can find my perfect property. I could just buy another place now, but I have a really busy travel schedule coming up and I am going to be overseas a lot. I leave shortly for Italy where I will be working on a project with these master painters in a 14th Century villa in the Italian Alps, then I have trips to Asia and Australia coming up. So I don't feel like starting over on the quest for the perfect house, it's kind of exhausting. I travel so much that some times I don't even think it makes sense for me to have a house, but then I would not have anywhere to display all my art collections and gear. But you don't care about the house, you want to know about the gear!

All the gear is stored in a climate controlled warehouse. It's factory sealed. I really can't answer too many questions about how it all sounds together since I never got to take it all home and hook it up, so I am going to paste in some excerpts from reviews and of course do your own searching and learn all you can about the gear. I'm going to do my best to reply to inquiries and offers, but I don't get time to respond every day and I don't want to get into a debate about what the best gear is for you or any of that. I used to love that stuff but I am just too busy now, sorry. My friend and I used to talk for hours and days about this gear and that sound and these tubes or cables and stuff but I just don't have the time for that anymore and I think that a lot of times we kid ourselves into thinking some weird hodge podge of gear sounds better than it really does just because we spent a lot of time and money on it. I don't want to trade for any other gear, this is the exact gear I want except maybe I will go for some of the No. 53's when I buy again and I think I might get a third Salon2 and one of the new woven acoustically transparent screens.

I will ignore lowball offers. I don't have to sell, I still want the same gear and I will just buy it again when I get my house. But I don't like the idea of it just sitting with nobody using it, or the possible risk of a theft or something. So if I can sell it and get close to what I paid then I will do it. But I don't need to sell and I don't really enjoy getting lowball offers so please save both of us the time. These speakers have been out for like 4 years now so there are lots of old ones on the market and they still seem to hold their value pretty well as I see some used ones selling for about what I am asking on these. Mine are fresh, they were just ordered and have not been sitting around or anything. But obviously if you can barely afford them and want to save every penny then you should look at the used ones and not these brand new ones, that kind of goes without saying. If you have a story about why you can't afford the speakers or something please don't tell me your sad story, no offense but I am a professional and I pay for the toys I want and if you can't afford it then you probably just should not be buying it. I actually stopped selling on Audiogon because I got so tired of some of the people giving me their whole life story. Please, if you want the gear, just email that you want to buy it, this is business.

Probably some people will ask about warranty. I think usually when you buy on Audiogon you cannot get warranty on most of the heavily discounted gear even when it is new like this. I am not a dealer so obviously I cannot offer you a warranty. But, I do 100% guarantee it to be perfect and new. And if you do ever have any problem or need for service in a 5 year time period then please do get in touch and I would be more than happy to ask my friend to try and get an RMA to send it in for warranty service. Obviously if you are the kind of person that has to have a warranty on everything in your name, then you should just buy the gear from your local dealer and get that. I can't offer you that. But, I did buy it with warranty and it does seem kind of a waste not to ever use it if somebody were to need it so keep my info and in that unlikely chance that you do ever need something, I would do my best for you. My buddy also works with a service center that does out of warranty repairs on Levinson and Revel for reasonable prices and so even after the warranty is out, I could hook you up with that.

Please use the buttons to see my other listings for what I have. If you need a whole system, let me know and I will try to give you a little extra discount for a whole package but don't expect a big extra discount as I am already pricing this stuff close to the price for used. Also, if you need some piece that you don't see me having to make a complete set for yourself, then feel free to ask me about it and I might be able to talk my friend into getting me something else for you. I can't promise it but it does not hurt to ask. Honestly, he was a little bummed at first that I was going to sell all the stuff that he put together for me at special prices. He gave me smoking deals because we are friends and because he really wanted me to have the same gear like he has and which I so appreciate. But now that my house deal fell through he's got this stuff in his warehouse and on his insurance and he does not want it to sit there forever either. And I am not going to ship it to my storage on Maui because it costs a ton to ship it over there and then I might decide to buy a house in California, I just don't know for sure so I am going to leave it all on the mainland for right now. The address in Audiogon is just where my dad lives and is not where the gear is actually stored.

Buyer will pay for shipping. And as far as shipping, I am obviously not going to ship this stuff myself, my friend will take care of everything and I will pay him for that. He gets a company discount on all his shipping so the rates will be really low, he can ship to Europe, China, Australia, or anywhere in the world really. He's on top of all the international documents for shipping and all that stuff because I would not know how to do all that. So I can offer to sell everything worldwide.

Please be advised that for the speakers they don't need anything to work with 230v but for the electronics keep in mind they are 120v and I cannot offer conversion on those, sorry.

Buyer will need to pay PayPal fees. These are 3% for USA buyers and 4% for Foreign Buyers.

I expect that these might sell quickly. I will try and answer questions as quick as I can. But if you do have a question and you also know that you definitely want the gear no matter what the answer is then go ahead and say you are ready to buy so that I give them to you and not the next guy. But, if you have a question where the answer may cause you to not want to buy them, then do not make me an offer, simply ask a precise question. If you say you will buy or you make an offer then that means you are ready to go, you know what you want and you are ready to pay. I don't want you to make an offer then ask me 16 questions, I have no time for games.

Thanks for looking!

From Andrew Robinson of Home Theater Review:

"For a true state of the art, high-end piece the No. 326S is so effortlessly simple to install, use and live with day to day it makes less capable products look and feel complicated.
Sonically the No. 326S floats my boat and I don't think I'm alone. The spaciousness and air the No. 326S is capable of reproducing is addicting and can result in extended listening sessions. The No. 326S's bass extension is superb and its high frequency response has few rivals.
The No. 326S, unlike a lot of reference preamps, doesn't mind if you throw it a few less than perfect recordings from time to time, it understands and is surprisingly capable and musical with even the nastiest of recordings, i.e. 128kbps Itunes downloads.
…as far as cost no object, reference-grade audiophile preamps go the Mark Levinson No. 326S is a relative bargain. With it's ability to accommodate numerous source components as well as ability to be integrated into a home theater or control system the No. 326S is far more well rounded in terms of ease of use and livability than many of its competitors.
