It is well recognized that van den Hul cables are priced lower than other inferior cables. Regarding the question as to why this model is so expensive, it is because it uses 3 times the silver as modern high end cables, combined with complex geometry, purity, and precision science. To offset the lack of silver, other companies use elaborate marketing and attractive outer cable coverings and attractive connectors. There is no substitute for using less silver to reduce cost, otherwise a world renowned expert like van den Hul would be doing it. In fact, current silver prices would probably never have resulted in a cable of this superiority. The MC Silver cables were designed when silver prices were a fraction of today's cost. Although the cables are sold through distributors, that mark-up is offset by other factors such as the fact that van den Hul does not outsource the production of anything. This is why van den Hul products come at a better cost value and at the same time are superior than competitor products.
