my dear fellow members. if you are reading about these speakers, then you do not need an introduction. I have been dabbling in the hi end audio since 2000 and have gone thru several speakers from B&W, Apogee's, Wilson's, etc, etc. Off course, by far the most grand and magnificent speakers I have had the pleasure of owning are the Pipedreams.

These speakers are a rare phenomenon that occur once in a while. They measure 8 feet in height; each tower has 21, 4" midrange drivers and 42, 1" tweeters. Yes, that is correct; there is A LOT OF SOUND coming out of these speakers. The series I own come with the original massive 21" dual firing subs (see pictures) with custom stands. Nearfield's later series were more cautious about space so they made the subs much smaller.

I also have the latest XO-3 crossover ($5,000) which I have used only a few hours. The towers come with two aluminum bases (one small and one large). The bases alone weight close to 100 lbs. I also have the brass 'feet' that can be screwed into the bottom base. I have babied these speakers as if they were my children. So they are cosmetically in good shape and sound amazing. They are quite efficient for their size and could be driven by a wide range of amplifiers. So you don't need monster power to run them, but it can't hurt.

Because of their weight, they must trucked LTL. Please email with questions.
