Original Retail ~$1800/ pair and Equalizer was several hundred more in 1970's dollars.

This matched set of McIntosh ML-2C speakers includes the Roger Russell RARE and rather mandatory McIntosh MQ-101 Environmental Equalizer .introduced in 1970 for achieving full frequency range flatness adjustment and for which he received his first patent.
Together they form a complete system that can maintain flat response down to 20Hz within 1dB. No sub-woofer is or was needed! This equalizer system design works just as well today as it did in 1970. The ML-2C speaker set sounds best when played connected to a quality amplifier that is at least 150-200 watt capable

A Classic piece of audio history, the McIntosh ML-2C boasts a 5-way 6-element floor system that includes two 12" woofers, 8" lower-mid, 1-1/2" soft dome mid-mid, 1-1/2" soft dome upper-mid and 2-1/4" tweeter.
All ORIGINAL SPEAKERS except for the foam surrounds which were PROFESSIONALLY replaced about 1 year ago, and except for the old capacitors of the MQ-101 equalizer which were upgraded to newer film style premium brand caps.

The contemporary design pecan finish cabinets are 100% ORIGINAL. They have solid walnut grille frames with plastic vertical slats having matching laminate and with black grille cloth behind slats.

Condition:
Excellent Overall Condition
Cosmetically - Cabinets show some minor to moderate corner and edge dings, dents and scratches, typical for their age, as per PICs; From a distance very few imperfections are more than barely visible.
<u>Cones</u>: Three tiny cone pinholes have been plugged, two in bass cones and one in a mid cone. They are much too small to affect performance (less than 1 mm). There are no associated dents, creases, bends, rips, or tears around these pinholes or anywhere else on any of the other driver cones.
Electrical: meets or exceeds original specs, all functions operate normally. CONE "SURROUNDS" (the gray foam outer rings) were PROFESSIONALLY replaced just over a year ago.

The ORIGINAL LIST PRICE OF JUST THE SPEAKERS IN 1971 THROUGH 1985 was $899.00 each or $1,800.00 per matched pair.
The rare McIntosh MQ-101 sells today typically for near $500, and as much as $650 to $995.
