THIS AUCTION IS OPEN TO BIDDERS WHO LIVE IN THE NEW YORK CITY AREA AND CAN COME AND PICK THESE UP.

WE CANNOT SHIP THEM.

IF YOU CANNOT PICK THEM UP PLEASE DO NOT BID.

We’re Stereo Exchange, located in New York City. We've been in business since the 1970s and are a major high-end dealer. We have all the current top brands on display in our huge showroom.

These Eggleston Works ROSA speakers sound great, with amazing detail to the mids and highs but even more impressive smoothness. They are as smooth as a baby’s bottom, so you can listen to them for hours.

The have astonishingly dynamic bass. I put on my Chinese drum track of my Burmester CD on, and they sound more like a real large drum than any other speaker I have heard for under $10,000.

They sound “boxless”, due, in large part, to the lack of vibration in the cabinets, which have granite sides!

They handle MASSIVE amounts of power, yet they will run quite well, from what I can see, with much lower power. On most recordings, the McIntosh amp we tried them on never went above 40 Watts (other than with the drums).

These speakers have GRANITE side cheeks that add stability like you can’t believe and make the cabinet more inert and vibration-free than any speaker I have ever seen before, other than, maybe, the largest Wilsons.

You can rest your hand on these while they are playing very loud and feel little to no vibration.

The grills are acoustically very transparent, but most users will leave the grills off, since the speakers look so good without them. The grills attach magnetically, so there are no peg holes to look at if they are off.

The cabinets are in gloss black, with dark gray granite sides…beautiful.

The granite looks great, the gloss black tops look quite good (a few small blemishes), but the cloth grills have small holes in them. You can get new ones from the company, I suspect, if you care, or maybe just get them re-clothed. Most users leave them off anyway.

The previous owner did leave the grills off, and one speaker was near the “flight path” of their baby, who poked in some of the dust caps on one speaker.

I was able to poke them back out, but there are small dimples and a slight crease in the dust caps.

I LISTENED TO THEM CAREFULLY, THOUGH, AND THIS SEEMS TO MAKE ZERO DIFFERENCE IN THE SOUND TO MY EAR, as I would expect.

New woofers are available from the company if YOU care!

  • At about 200 pounds each, they weigh so much that, if you live in a high crime area, you can leave your door open and they will probably be there when you get back. They are virtually UN-stealable, if that’s a word.

  • Since these are for local pickup only at out store in New York City, you will need to pay tax on them regardless of what state you live in, but the good news is that Katz’s deli is nearby. Once you have a bite of their Corned Beef on Rye you will forget about the fact that you must pay tax.

  • Because of their extreme weight, nobody in the store wants to move them into a sound room to play them, so we have decided to sell them on Audiogon with a no-brainer RESERVE.

THEIR VALUE:

According to the Audiogon bluebook, the retail was about $9000.00 a pair, the average pair sells for just over $4500.00, and the LOWEST any have sold for was $3000.00 a pair.

We called the manufacturer (very nice folks) and, according to EgglestonWorks…

According to our records, we sold them to AV Creations in 1999. You are right about their price back then (about $9000/pr). Currently we are producing the Rosa Signature http://egglestonworks.com/products/the-rosa-signature/ . Current retail is $13,900/pair. We could do an upgrade which includes new midrange drivers, new wiring, new aluminum baffle plates, and complete clean up. There is also some cabinet mod’s that have to happen to the rear panel. Finally we would address any cosmetic issues to the extent possible and provide you with new shipping crates. All in this would be about $4k”.

  • THE RESERVE IS $1588.00 for the pair and you pick them up at the store in New York City (and pay tax).

Things to know…

This item is USED with no warranty, refunds, or exchanges. They have been tested and sound great.

Since you will be picking them up at the store, no matter where you live, New York requires that we collect sales tax.

You can use Paypal and pick them up at your leisure, or pay for them in the store with cash or a credit card, but, no matter what, they MUST be paid for within 7 days of the close of the auction.

They are NOT available to audition in the store.

If we had them on display in the store they would be priced MUCH higher to cover the time a salesperson would take to demo them.

Thanks for your understanding.

Questions for the seller
Hello. Would it be possible to measure how deep they are? The site states the new models are 18" but the photos look far more than that. Rock on, S. E. Thanks in advance
we measured about 18.5 inches from the front of the bottom to the back of the top, since they sit tilted back. Less than I guessed!
