WITH WARRANTY. Up for sale or trade are my Dynaudio Excite tower speakers. THESE ARE IN THE VERY HARD-TO-FIND GLOSS WHITE LACQUER. They are in pristine, as-new condition. I have the original boxes, brochures, receipt and packing material. I purchased them earlier this year from Ember Audio here in Winston (a great shop!), and was enjoying sonic nirvana until I stumbled upon an unused pair of one of my "bucket list" speakers (Audio Physic Scorpio). Unbelievably, a collector had purchased the Scorpios, stored them in a warehouse and never used them! Oh, this hobby, this hobby. After emptying my wallet for the Scorpios, I must now sell my Dynaudios (or trade and sell some other gear) to get out of the doghouse. The Dynaudios are spectacular loudspeakers.  Ember allowed me to audition these speakers in my home for a week, and at the end of the week I had to have them. Read my reviews posted earlier this year here on Audiogon and on Audioreview.com.  If you are reading this you likely know the Excite series has received rave reviews from Stereophile, Absolute Sound and many others, including loudspeaker of the year (X12), etc. The X36 was the top of the Excite line until earlier this year, when Dynaudio replaced it with the X38.Unfortunately, only one mainstream Audio magazine reviewed the X36, and WhatHiFi gave them only average marks. In my opinion WhatHiFi has never been as reliable as TAS or Stereophile (the Brits think the loudspeaker is the least important component, you know), but they are usually fairly close. Well, the reviewer blew this one. Same drivers, crossover topology and cabinet construction as the rest of the highly-touted Excite line, but just larger. It is possible, but unlikely, that Dynaudio got the rest of the line so right and the flagship only so-so. I have lived with them, and I can attest that these are fine loudspeakers! I have really loved them.. Like all Dynaudios, the soundstaging, imaging and clarity are exceptional. The build quality is absolutely world class; actually a notch better than the Audio Physic. The optional white gloss lacquer is stunning; the automotive grade finish is very deep, rich and luxurious. I have put about 150 hours on them, so they are just properly broken-in, I have driven them with very high quality equipment: Balanced Audio Technology VK500 amp; PS Audio PCA2 preamp; Cary Audio 303/300 tubed CD player, Rega turntable with Musical Surroundings Nova II phono preamp; all but the turntable running in fully balanced configuration. This pair came with the standard black grilles, but I bought the optional white grilles direct from Dynaudio just to have a change of pace. The white grilles are still in the boxes and are influded in the sale.. The Excite 36 feature Dynaudio's famed Esostar soft-dome tweeter, a 4" midrange, and two 7" bass drivers. They are rated 50 to 300 wpc, and they really sang with my BAT VK500. These speakers have the capability of playing loudly without compression or perceivable distortion, which few speakers in this price range can do. I rarely play them loudly, as I tend more toward Jazz, Bluegrass and Prog Rock. Although Dynaudio markets the X36 and X38 as "full range", they are actually NEAR full range (relatively few loudspeakers under 10k are TRULY full range in my experience). These are rated down to 32 hZ, but in reality they are rock solid down to 40 hZ or slightly lower. Like my AAD 2003 before them, I run a customized RBH passive subwoofer and stand-alone RBH 200 amp to get down to the bottom octave, such as organ music, etc.. I also used the RBH sub with my Von Schweikert VR4s, which are rated flat down to 20 hZ. The mids and highs are absolutely exquisite, second only to a pair of Apogee Duetta II Signatures that I once had (what a dufus I was to part with those!) I have owned many pair of very nice loudspeakers, some costing multiples of the Dynaudio, and the Excites acquit themselves quite well with the best of them.  At the price I am selling the Dyns for, I don't think you can do better for average-sized rooms.. You are welcome to come by and audition.  Email, text or call (c) 336-671-0572. David
