For sale is one Great River EDN-3 electronic crossover. This unit was a custom order ( they are only built to order) that was not completed. This is one of the best active 2 way/ 3 way crossovers available anywhere. If you are not familiar with Great River please see info at the bottom of the page or do a google search. Many audiophile products that you may already own were designed and manufactured by Great River and many great recordings you listen to everyday were done with Great Rivers industry standard studio equipment.

The EDN-3 electronic crossover is a very high performance frequency-dividing system intended for use with all bi- or tri-amplified systems past, current or future.

Important technical features include:

Deep Class-A circuit topolgy for all mid and high frequency signal paths
Discrete-component implementation of all Class-A amplifiers
Step attenuators for precise control
Single-ended and Balanced outputs are simultaneously usable
Balanced inputs are galvanically isolated with studio-grade Cinemag input transformers for complete freedom from ground loops and common-mode voltage differences
Separate LFE input for theatre applications
Premium 4-layer circuit board
No Mylar capacitors & no electrolytic capacitors in any signal path
Worldwide AC mains operable

Why you need this crossover:

For many systems the objective technical performance is greatly improved and the sound of the system is spectacularly improved. The midrange and high end are more effortless, smooth and open sounding. The woofer management is much more exact.

The use of optimized equalization procedures for the woofers results in an improvement in time coherence . The woofers flatter to a lower frequency and there is a tremendous reduction in group delay resulting in the woofers being temporally much "closer" to the towers. The consequences of this are hard to describe in words but are instantly audible and appreciated.

All outputs are fully buffered so there is no interaction with the input impedance of the power amplifiers. The balanced outputs have ample current capability to drive very long cables with their attendant high capacitance. So do the single-ended outputs, but we don't recommend long single-ended cable runs for other reasons.

The EDN-3 works with all loudspeaker systems in bi and tri-amplification. The midrange high- and low-pass filters, the tweeter high-pass filter and the woofer equalization are all defined by "slope setup modules" which can be changed in the field. Quite a wide range of center frequency, order and Q can be achieved.

The important point is that the EDN-3 embodies the solutions to all the practical application issues we have encountered over the lifetime of many different hi end speaker product lines. The other important point is that it sounds wonderful.
