Edit: Please note: this listing is for a L.H. Labs Geek Pulse SFi DAC, I am unable to modify the listing title.
Brand new in box. Not yet opened, WILL OPEN just to check that all parts are there.
This has to be THE best single ended DAC/AMP unit you can possibly buy for $600.00. The plain vanilla Geek Pulse has already reviewed well for a unit under $1000 and this is the DUAL MONO version with a more powerful amp, upgraded internal components AND a FEMTO clock (usually found as an upgrade option worth hundreds of dollars on DAC units worth thousands of dollars). This is the single ended version of the Pulse XFi (identical otherwise) which will supposedly retail for $2995.
I purchased this in December of 13 and finally received it in late May of this year. During that time I purchased another unit and no longer have a need for this DAC.
A LH Labs Lightspeed 1G USB cable will be included at my asking price.
Questions for the seller |
---|
Can you explain the difference in time as to when you bought it and when you received it? A bit confusing. Can you also tell me who did the modifications?
Thanks,
John Hi John, I guess that is a bit confusing. First, this is a brand new production unit ( although won't be offered as a retail product).
This unit is the result of a crowd funding effort by a company named LH Labs. It was started by the gentlemen that designed the Light Harmonic DaVinci DAC. The crowd funding campaign started around December of 2013, that is when I bought into it, first as a standard geek pulse DAC and as time passed several upgrade options were offered, I took advantage of those offers. It was finally sent to me late May of this year.
The reason I decided to take a chance on it was because I had been a part of a previous campaign by the same people, this one was a small portable usb DAC, the geek out. I liked it enough to take a chance on the pulse. The wait was too long with no end in sight, several missed deadlines, so I ended up buying another much more expensive DAC, but it fits my system needs very nicely.
With regard to the Pulse SFi not being offered as a retail product, during the campaign they had numerous iterations of the DAC, when it was over LH Labs felt the same DAC with balanced as well as single ended outputs (XFi) made the single unit (SFi) redundant, and decided that the XFi would be the unit they take to market.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Best,
