THIS IS A STEAL. If you want a FABULOUS sounding dac then please consider this unit. This was John's last Exception work up unit before going into full production. The only difference is this unit has an aluminum chassis instead of steal and very minor internal differences. It looks just like the regular production models and is in perfect shape. Sounds Beautiful! However, as stated above if you want in the big leagues of DACs then get this unit. The production Exceptions retail for $4,000 but stack up against the best out there. This is a BARGAIN. This dac sounds extremely MUSICAL not edgy and sharp. The unit is silver. This unit does not play DSD but does play 24/96, 24/176, 24/192, 16/44. I was using a WyWires Super Nova 7 with extremely good results.
