Electrocompaniet ECD-1 w/ Empirical Audio "Turbo" Mod

This is an awesome DAC, with a reputation for being one of the most musical DAC’s out there in its price range. I had it modified a few years back by Empirical Audio, and it has the “turbo mod” with the modified clock. The improvements to an already outstanding DAC were remarkable. I have never heard piano and percussion instruments sound so realistic, as do electric guitar, saxophone, trumpet, etc. Vocals are mind-boggling. It brings out the details in recordings, but is never harsh.

The unit is in absolutely mint condition. It has been in a smoke-free, child-free home and set in an enclosed cabinet. I am very obsessive compulsive about my equipment and have treated it with kid gloves.

The DAC originally sold for $2000, and the full “turbo mod” with the modified clock cost another $1,676. So the total DAC new would be almost $3,700. I have reduced the price tor $1,190, plus shipping to the continental U.S. I will pay the paypal fee.

This ECD-1 has an XLR-AES/EBU digital input, and an optical digital input, and a coax digital input (i.e., to connect a transport or CD player), and an RCA left/right output to connect to an amp. It also has balanced outputs for connection to a balanced amp.
