Questions for the seller
Hi: Are you able to connect a subwoofer to this unit? I saw the digital output that it has, which is nice, but having one sets of RCA out, kinda kills my need. Ahmed
Hi Ahmed: Yes I had the MagicPlus connected to my powered REL subwoofer using a "Y" RCA cable. The R/L end of the cable was connected to the analog RCA outs of the MagicPlus, and the single RCA end connected to the "low level" input of the subwoofer (note: this was the type of connection recommended by both the REL and the Cambridge Audio tech people). Works very well as the REL delivered beautifully. Of course, if you use a separate pre-amp, and use the MagicPlus as a DAC only, you have a digital SP/DF out to connect to your pre-amp which may have in turn a dedicated subwoofer out. Hope this was useful. Lionel
Thank you Lionel. One of the other option, that I thought of but don't know whether it would work is to use the balanced output with XLR to RCA cable and route that to the amp directly and then use the RCA outs as you said to the subwoofer. My goal is actually to use something like this as my pre-amp. Any thoughts? Ahmed
Hello Ahmed: The option you describe is exactly the one I used. The only difference is that I connected the XLR balanced outs directly to my powered Emotiva Stealth monitors. By the way, I was perfectly happy with the DacMagic Plus DAC/digital pre-amp, and the Cambridge Audio Bluetooth receiver (BT100, a $99 value which I offer with the DacMagic Plus) works beautifully. If you download "High Definition" music, as I do, you will like the fact that the DacMagic Plus accepts incoming sample rates up to 192. The only reason I am selling it is because, in addition to a high end DAC / pre-amp, I needed a high quality headphone amp. And Oppo Digital has just released that type of equipment (HA-1) along with superlative "planar" headphones (PM-1). Regards, Lionel
