Calyx Audio 24.192 DAC Hi Rez DAC w/Upgraded Power Supply 8/10

I have a trade in Calyx 24.192 DAC with upgraded power supply in excellent condition form sale.

The DAC 24/192’s attractive outer casing is machined from a solid block of aluminum.  On the rear are pairs of balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. There are two digital inputs, USB and S/PDIF coax RCA. The Calyx features a filtered regenerative power supply to allow the DAC
to draw power from a connected computer over the USB connection. The DAC 24/192 sports the highly regarded ESS Sabre 9018 chip which in
theory can crunch a 32-bit 400kHz data stream. Since the 9018 is an
8-channel parts it’s run here in a dual-differential paralleled circuit
topography i.e. two DAC channels per phase per stereo channel. In
addition to providing superior linearity, S/N ratio and dynamic range in
excess of 130dB, this allows Calyx to run fully balanced to its XLR
outputs. The XMOS USB input chip is supported natively by Apple’s OS X. Plug and play and
you should be good to go. For Windows users Calyx the CD ROM is included with the system.

This DAC comes with the optional $419.00 CLIPS power supply that adds solidity and removes a small bit of grain.

"Consider this. The laptop/Cardas/Calyx combo in this review retails for about a quarter of my CEC/MIT/Audiomat rig but was at least as musically involving and
could play hi-rez recordings in native mode up to 24-bit/192kHz. This
was amazing to me. Finally truly excellent digital sound can be had at
everyman prices. Forget everything bad I’ve ever said about computer
audio. I now take it back. The Calyx 24/192 DAC has certainly tempted me
to ditch the silver disc for good. Do check it out if you can."

image of what is on the disc or computer file. It takes you right back into the
recording studio or the venue of live recordings if that may be the case. With
older recordings it takes you back in time right along with the technologies
used to make them. There is not much room for music to hide in the Calyx, yet it
responds to various footers and cables to different degrees so it is tunable. It
sets a very high standard near the front end of your system, which puts a burden
upon what comes further downstream. In my case, the Calyx provided revelation
and joy from both CD and computer sourced music. It is a brick that will rock
with the best of them…or waltz, if you prefer."
