Fully upgraded and optimized for sound quality. It serves as a music server and streamer. It can also be a CD ripper and a transport (the disc driver is $40 extra). It is an ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION for your DAC.

First timer in computer audio? Well, its sound quality could be way beyond anything that "spins" (cassette tapes, vinyls, or CDs) as long as it's done right. Once you receive the unit you will receive a full set-up support from me for easy operation and optimal sound quality.

I am a 100% feedback seller in eBay and Audiogon and you can buy with confidence.

--FEATURES--
The following features let this unit outperform stock Mac Mini. The reasons are well documented in the Internet and I posted my research findings as photos.

~ SSD (Sold State Drive)
The biggest problem with conventional audio playback is the act of spinning something. Cassette tapes, vinyls, and CDs all suffer from it.... and a conventional hard drive too. SSD works like a flash memory stick and nothing spins inside. Compared to a spinning hard drive, SSD not only offers low jitter playback but also runs faster and quieter. The operating system and music playing software simply have easier time on SSD than on a spinning drive (see photos).

It goes without saying you do not want to use the same hard drive to run software and read files from. That practice translates into degradation in sound quality. The unit for sale has two SSDs (64GB x 2). You can use one to run music playback software and the other one to read files from. It's a small storage so think of it as your turntable or CD changer to put the to-be-played music files on. I advise you store your entire music library on an external drive. But playing music should be done from the second internal drive for faster file access and better sound quality.

~ EXPANDED RAM
8 GB instead of the usual 4 GB. The Absolute Sound argues 8 GB (nothing more, nothing less) is the optimal memory size for music reproduction (see photo).

~AUDIRVANA PLUS MUSIC PLAYER
In a software based music players shootout (6Moon Review), Audirvana came out as the winner in sound quality. Installing the software itself optimizes the operating system for music reproduction. It also allows Memory Playing so you get consistently excellent sound regardless of where the music is stored. This unit actually has Audirvana Plus which is known to be even better than the original version.

~SERVER VERSION OS
10.8.5 Server (v. 2.2.1) with the latest updates. Should perform better than regular OSX

--CONDITION--
In a great functional and cosmetic condition. Apple remote included so you can control Audirvana playback from your couch.

--DISC DRIVE--
Due to the second SSD drive installation the original disc drive (for playing and burning discs) has been removed. For only $40 extra I can include it in this sale, it is now in a USB enclosure in working order ready to be plugged in.

--SHIPPING--
