"Marche slave (1876), one of Tchaikovsky's most popular concert works, was written for a concert to benefit soldiers wounded in the war between Serbia and Turkey. The conflict eventually escalated into all-out war between Russia and Turkey; to capitalize on the prevailing spirit of Slavic solidarity, Tchaikovsky used appropriate folk songs as the main themes in his march, incorporating the Russian national anthem, "God Save the Tsar," at key points." - Classical Archives"Both Conductor and Orchestra play with fervor and fire" - Billboard

"If you can ignore the tape hiss these Mercury Living Presence recordings of Antal Dorati leading the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra would be among the finest ever made. Along with the tape hiss, Mercury's engineering captured every nuance of the performances with a clarity and lucidity that few later recordings could match." - AMG.

This LP is a Mercury Living Presence Stereo recording from 1959.
This is an Early Pressing with FR6/FR3 as part of the Matrix.
This series is highly regarded by Audiophiles as being some of the finest recordings ever made, even by today's standards and techniques.

Mastered by George Piros.

These recordings are considered to be of true Audiophile quality.

Very Rare 'FR' pressing.

The record is NM-.
The jacket is Exc.
The LP plays/sounds Mint.

A truly outstanding sounding recording - far better than the more common 'RFR' pressings. All the qualities that are usually associated with the Mercury Living Presence series are here and then some. Very detailed with exceptional tonality and definnition. Brass has 'bite', Strings are sweet and shimmering and a very warm, liquid mid-range. Fantastic dynamics (Side 2 has the most dynamic and powerful Crescendos I have hear on any LP).
Surface noise is aucible on some fairly quiet passages as 'vinyl noise/crackles' but does not interefere with the Music. Side 1 is fairly quiet - mostly on Side 2.

Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get.
