AUDIOPHILE ON A BEER BUDGET: 25 Decent LPs that won't break the bank!

Folks, here’s a decent group of titles with good to great sound, and a variety of music that offers a lot of bang for the buck. Nearly everything here is Analog (1 Digital), and all of these have an excellent to superb reputation. Jackets for many of these titles are Very Good, meaning that rather than being crisp, there is a certain amount of wear and tear, but nearly all of the LPs are Near Mint, and many of them look almost new. There are 20 titles and 25 LPs. This is a relatively painless and inexpensive way to explore some interesting material that sounds good. My asking price works out to around $0.80 per LP.

Some of the highlights:

--Faure “Pelleas et Melisande; Pavane; Ballade”, w/Armin Jordan and The Lausanne Chamber Orchestra; this is some of the most refined music on this planet; beautiful French RCA Erato gatefold jacket, with a sumptuous recording to match.

--Brahms “The 21 Hungarian Dances”, w/Kurt Masur and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra in a POWERHOUSE recording. Comes with an attractive insert listing other titles in the series

--Brahms "The Four Symphonies", w/George Szell and The Cleveland Orchestra; these are strong performances that have stood the test of time. Comes in an attractive textured box; 3 LP set.

--Handel "Messiah", w/Colin Davis and The London Symphony Orchestra and Choir; everyone should have a copy of "Messiah", and this is still one of the top 3 versions ever released. Gorgeous Philips recording is full, lovely, yet detailed (and won all kinds of awards); comes with a handsome textured booklet. 3 LP set.

-- "Sound of Genius". These were sampler LPs issued by Columbia, and offer a fascinating glimpse into the more interesting titles released that year (1966). Mid-60's "Gold Label" pressing!

--Haydn "Piano Trios #'s 29, 30, 31", w/Beaux Arts Trio. This entire series was awarded a rosette by the Penguin Stereo Guide. Chamber music at its best, the gorgeous Philips recording will totally seduce you.
