McIntosh MCD1100 Flagship CD/SACD player / DAC

This is probably the finest single box CD/DAC in production. It has excellent sonics and impeccable build quality. Plays CD's, and SACD' flawlessly. Plays my HiRez files through USB of a Mac Mini with ease and stunning quality.

One owner, 10 months. I have since upgraded to the only thing I have been able to find that sounds better. The MSB Platinum Dac and UMT but they are over twice the price.

The soundstage and clarity are superb. The MCD1100 was my first source that gave startling clarity and separation to the space around the individual performers and instruments. You get a beguiling sense of the space the recording was made in. On live performances it is very convincing.

Some of the local Audiophile club members participated in a joint shoot out between the MCD1100, PS Audio, Aesthetix Romulus, and MCD550. The Romulus was the only thing that came close. The MCD1100 had better clarity and presence though the tube magic was nice in the Romulus.

The build quality is all Mac. Slim drawer mechanism that is ultra smooth and quiet. The rest is simply built like a tank. And the resale value will hold on longer than any other digital source out there.

Original box, remote and manual are included.

This player has been babied. Unit was set up, connected, and then repacked all by the same dealer. Remote control is hardly used as I was using a Harmony universal remote control.
