The Transport:
The Esoteric P-01 is built around the most advanced transport ever designed.
The VRDS-NEO. This Vibration-free Rigid Disc-clamping System. The Esoteric sled assembly and optical pickup implementation was developed for the VRDS and the result is no off axis tracking can occur; therefore no off axis error correction is required. The result is lower jitter and than any other transport. This is an essential fundamental of disk media playback.
A 1/2 thick solid shaved aluminum base provides the mounting base for the precision mechanism and minimizes any resonance created by the machanism, disk media, and environmental.
A 10 pound/10mm thick steel bottom frame provides an ultra rigid and stable base for optimal data retrieval.
Four patent pending pinpoint feet provide mechanical isolation from the furniture on which the transport is placed.
A separate power supply provides three high performance transformers. One for the mechanism motors, one for the signal processor/up converters, and a third for the digital processinng (clock circuit.) This level of ultra high power supply design provides very stable supply voltages while completely isolating the player from any noise in the power conversion process.
Digtial input/outputs: Two IEEE1394 for Esoteric's proprietary DSD transfer; Five AES/EBU, XLR, 110 ohm digital outputs for multi-channel playback; Three coax S/PDIF RCA outputs: One 75 Ohm BNC clock input.
Internal D/D converter converts signal up to 192khz.
A separate power supply units consists of 3 transformers (1 for mechanism drive, 1 for pick-up signal processing, and 1 for D-D converter and Master Clock Circuit.
The Digital to Analog Converters.
Two Esoteric D-01 monaural digital to analog converters bring out the full potential of SACD and CD formats. Advanced digital circuitry provides an array of state of the art processing.
Inputs include: Two XLR (AES/EBU) 110ohm inputs for connecting to two different sources, RCA (coax) S/PDIF 75 ohm input, two IEEE1394 inputs for Esoteric's proprietary DSD signal transfer.
SACD DSD signals are input through the IEEE1394 input terminal or the XLR1 input terminal (original Esoteric ES-LINK format).
PCM signal to 24/192 kHz can be input.
Three advanced digital filters: FIR, RDOT, and FIR & RDOT. Filtering can also be turned off.
Input signal is upconverted to 768kHz before being sent to the 8 D-A converters in each chassis. The octal use of the DACs significantly improves the signal to noise ratio as well as signal linearity.
Word clock in/out for syncronization.
Premium quality analog attenuation for maximum signal clarity.
An extremely rigid body construction eliminates harmful mechanical vibration.
The Master Clock
G-0Rb Master Clock Generator
The G-0Rb uses a U.S. made rubidium oscillator accurate to +/-0.05-ppb (parts per billion) = 0.00005 ppm (parts per million) frequency precision for extremely high performance in the clock generator core. The
G-03X uses a high precision crystal oscillator (Accurate to +/- 0.1 ppm). In addition, proprietary specifications and manufacturing processes implemented by ESOTERIC are used to optimize signal stability thereby improving sound quality within your audio system.
Accuracy not effected by voltage variations
WB transformer (wound core with coil bobbin,) is extremely efficient with a short magnetic path, low magnetic resistance and provides extremely stable power to the internal circuits.
Ultra rigid chassis reduces mechanical resonances and allows the oscilator to operate at its full potential.
