Beautiful dCS player for sale.  Probably
the best all-in-one player in the market. Extremely musical while being incredibly
precised and detailed.  Fantastic tones
and rhythm.  Huge soundstage.  Extremely versatile, this player can be used
as a preamp and can directly be connected to power amps. It has a very
practical and high quality digital volume control.  Other functionality include: two digital
SPDIF inputs that allows the player to act as a DAC for other digital sources,
two digital outputs, as well as analog RCA and XLR outputs. Output level can be
set to 2 or 6 volts, which can be very practical.

This player was manufactured in 2008, but has received the dCS software
updates, including the latest one (update 1.41).  These updates provide the following additional
capabilities:

• SPDIF
  inputs will accept DSD in DoP format.




• 176.4 &
  192kS/s capability to the SPDIF inputs to support Puccini U-Clock v2.




• 3 PCM
  filter options added: Classic, Long and Asymmetric.




• DSD
  performance improved.




• DSD
  upsampling for Digital Inputs added

 I rated the unit as a 7 due to the following factors. The unit is in excellent condition, but has a ½ inch surface scratch on the front panel (top edge), above the CD drawer, about 1 inch from the corner of the player. The underside of the player shows marks from the anti-vibration feet that I used, but are of course not visible when the player is in its regular position.  Last year the player started to have problems reading well SACD (it would skip songs).  I sent it to the local dealer. The problem was a faulty gear and the whole mechanism was replaced in April 2014 (I have the invoice).  I haven’t had any problem since then.
