If you don't know what this is, you might want to stop here and move on.

If you do know what this is, then you also know how rare it is and how great it is. There is plenty of information available online for this cartridge so I trust that anyone interested will do their own homework. This cartridge was exclusive to the legendary PS-X9 turntable from Sony. Later they made them available to a few select customers that were purchasing some of the other top models of Sony turntable like the PS-X70 for example. This cartridge was purchased by a PS-X70 owner and must have spent the majority of it's life in the box because you can clearly see it has very little wear on it.

I installed this on one of my Sony PS-X75 turntables and it's absolutely stunning. It's so great I simply didn't want to risk wearing it out and/or possibly damaging it so it has been sitting in it's box again for the last year and a half or so. Never thought I would sell it but it pains me to see it sit there, and I need to raise funds for other purchases so I am offering it here at a discounted price and if it doesn't sell here it'll head over to eBay where I am quite certain that at $1K it'll get snapped up very quickly.

If you've ever wanted one of these then I would suggest that you act quickly! I doubt you will ever see one with such low mileage on it and all original.

Now for some details... The plastic box that holds the cartridge has a broken piece that is missing on the hinged cover. This of course has absolutely no impact on the cartridge, but I am disclosing it up front. The plastic box had been taped closed by the former owner and some of the tape (tan color packing tape) is still stuck to the box, I didn't try to remove it because I am certain it'll be challenging and will probably leave some sticky residue behind, again this is purely a cosmetic issue with the box itself, no impact on the cartridge.

Look closely at the pictures, they should speak for themselves. The cantilever is straight and true, stylus is like new, suspension shows no signs of fatigue, the unit tracks perfectly at the recommended tracking force, and did pretty well even when I backed off the tracking force by 1/2 gram. Keep in mind that I only had this on my turntable for a few days to test it, what a treat!

This is a heavy cartridge, if memory serves me well it's about 23 grams total so be aware that you will most likely need to add the additional counterweight for your tonearm in order to properly balance this. I had no problem using it with my PS-X75 once I installed the factory extra tonearm weight.

This unit is guaranteed not DOA but no warranty beyond that. It is a vintage cartridge after all. No returns either. This isn't a cartridge for someone prone to buyers remorse, or for tirekickers that just want a chance to hear one of these legends in their system.

Be sure you want it. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. You will not be disappointed with this, it is an amazing cartridge and has earned its reputation.

What you see in the photos is what you get. That is, the cartridge, stylus guard, plastic holder box, outer cardboard box. There are no other items. The specs are printed on the back of the cardboard box, and of course anyone who is seriously interested in this can easily find all the data online.

Shipping (insured) to lower 48 included in asking price as well as PayPal fees. Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada shipping will be $50 extra.

I might consider reasonable offers but just be aware that it'll always be available with the Buy It Now option so someone could snap it up before I even get to review your offer. I can't control that part.
