Pioneer Elite BDP-88FD NEW in open box, it is factory fresh with no usage, complete with everything

       The Pioneer Elite BDP 88FD, is Pioneer’s new flagship, reference level universal disc player.  It has great build quality, including a two-layer chassis (it weighs about 30 pounds!)  Great isolation and silent playback.  It also features ultra HD upscaling, D/A conversion using the latest ESS SABRE reference DACs, and it basically plays all of the disc formats, including:  Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD, CD, SACD, and DVD Audio.  MSRP is $2,000.      

      The BDP-88FD Elite Blu-ray players reproduce exceptional video quality by utilizing Pioneer’s new advanced video engine consisting of the Precise Pixel Driver image processor and Pioneer’s new 4K Reference Converter that upscale existing disc-based or network content to Ultra HD 4K resolution (4K/60P/4:4:4/24-bit) providing the finest picture quality possible when used with a compatible display. The upscaled video is output via HDMI utilizing its full 18GBPS bandwidth.      To deliver reference quality audio, the BDP-88FD employ the ES9018 ESS SABRE32 Reference DAC for the utmost audio quality output, capable of playing DVD Audio, SACD and the most popular high resolution audio files. The BDP-88FD takes things further by using all four of its integrated DACs in parallel to greatly reduce noise. The BDP-88FD also features a “Direct Function Circuit” for use in pure analog audio playback mode shutting off all video circuits and dedicating the processing power to the audio components. The BDP-88FD provides noticeably increased audio performance with its use of a large capacity power supply transformer, independent quartz for 44.1 kHz/48 kHz playback, Hi-Bit and Hi-Sampling processing, and a DAC filter.

For convenience and plug-and-play capability right out of the box, the BDP-88FD features DLNA®, giving users the ability to quickly share audio and video content from a PC via the user’s home network. The BDP-88FD can also work as a DMP/DMR (Digital Media Player/Digital Media Renderer) to push content directly from a portable source such as a compatible smartphone or tablet. The BDP-88FD is also designed to play high resolution music content from USB, disc, and hard drive devices. In addition, it offer YouTube “Send to TV,” making it extremely easy to watch YouTube videos using paired devices.

With the free app, you can use your iPod touch, iPhone or iPad as a remote for controlling the Blu-ray Disc player’s basic functions. The app is also compatible with Android. Enjoy smooth control from your device, with support for 8 languages (same setting as your device).

     To greatly reduce unwanted vibration, the BDP-88FD utilize a double-layered chassis for low center of gravity as well as a highly rigid bonnet structure. Increased performance also comes from the use of acoustic electric capacitors and high grade components. In addition, the BDP-88FD employs a 3-chamber structure separating its power supply, digital processing circuitry, and audio circuitry.

     This Flagship Blu-ray player, the Pioneer Elite BDP-88FD is owned by a friend of mine. He just special ordered it from a local Pioneer Elite dealer to hook up to his McIntosh MX-151 processor. Unfortunately the McIntosh MX-151 is an older piece and is not State of the Art like the Pioneer, so there is currently a conflict for smooth operation. The Pioneer works fine with no issues. In fact it works fine with the McIntosh MX-121 and all other units tested. 

     That being said, my friend is stuck in the middle with a Superb Blu-ray player that won't work for him. Since it was special ordered, and it works perfectly, they are not willing to do much. So now it is for sale, and you have an opportunity to save a wad of cash for a brand new Flagship Pioneer Blu-ray player, the best that they make. Please see my other items for sale.
