The All-New Kenai Passive Power Strip

Built from heavy 1/4" thick extruded aluminum, the Kenai sports Furutech GTX-D receptacles in a REAL Carbon Fiber baffle (no laminates here). Our wire geometry is designed with ultra low impedance and internal resistance in mind and our proprietary geometry reduces both inductance and capacitance to extremely low levels.

The entire module is filled and encapsulated using a specialty potting compound designed to convert micro-vibration to heat and absorb and dissipate static fields.

Vibration is mission critical because it creates magnetic fields at varying frequencies. These magnetic fields introduce harmonic content into the AC lines, which are out of phase with the AC signal, creating a reduction in transient response and power efficiency.

This power strip is completely passive and geometry-based. The goal was to eliminate distortion without adding devices to the signal path. So there are no capacitors, transformers, inductors, resistors, magnets, ferrites, voodoo EMI compounds, or other devices that may alter the impedance of the circuit in some fashion.

What does happen is an improved capability to deliver power accurately and quickly to your components. Because this distribution unit is lower impedance than the wall it helps to reduce harmonic content both into and from your electronics and thus reduces noise. Think of it like putting a $10,000 power cable onto your source component, but that upgrade across every component plugged into the unit.

We run a variable gauge litz ground wire braid inside a very specific diameter FEP tube. That tube is then filled with sand and sealed completely. Our mains conductors are variable gauge and  braided along the outside of this tube using a precise algorithm for spacing of each conductor to minimize inductance and capacitance. This in turn keeps the conductors equidistant from the ground conductor inside the tube at every stage.

The chassis is then lined with a magnetic shielding material called Giron. We found that magnetic shielding is sonically far superior to electric shielding. This is because electric shields create capacitance between the conductors and the shield, which tends to increase impedance and often translates to increased noise rather than decreased. By using the magnetic material we need not connect it to the power circuit to have it be effective. This material is far too stiff to use in regular cable construction, but for lining devices is highly effective. The entire construction is then submerged in our compound and hardened.

The bottom line is that this device is a game changer for power delivery. The best way to describe the presentation is holographic, textured, and real. It is the kind of presentation where you can stand up and walk around the room without losing the 3-Dimensional performance. Solid power delivery equals solid sound.
