This is a PowerCell 10 SE Mk III which includes the Tranquility Base technology built right into the PowerCell unit itself. I am an authorized Synergistic Research dealer and I am selling this unit for one of my customers. He bought the new $7,000 PowerCell 10 UEF with FEQ Equalizer as soon as that came out and so that makes this unit available for a great savings. I sold him this unit in January of 2013 and he received it in February of 2013 so it is less than 2 years old and still under the 5 year manufacturer's warranty. This unit has never had any problems or been repaired. It is A stock and not a demo or a refurb.

This PowerCell has been gently used since February of 2013. It has been carefully used in not only a dedicated room but actually a dedicated building that the owner had built to house his beautiful system. He treats his gear with as much care as I have ever seen from any owner. It's not played loud for parties or anything like many people's systems are, this is just one audiophile's retreat from the world where he goes and carefully pulls out a record, cleans it with his Audio Desk record cleaner and plays it on his Lloyd Walker Black Diamond V turntable which is connected to a top of the line Audio Research phono stage, Allnic L3000 Preamp, Lamm M 1.2 Reference power amps and the ultimate reference speaker system from Scaena, their top of the line $165,000 1.3 system.

Note that the photos below show the system with the Aesthetix Callisto Balanced all-tube Linestage preamplifier. This particular pair of Scaena speakers were in Harry Pearson's famous demo room on Long Island where they were his reference pair of speakers for 8 years through various upgrades and despite the fact that all the other manufacturers were trying to get Harry Pearson to take out the Scaenas and put in a pair of their best speakers. After the speakers left Harry's they were upgraded yet again and installed into Terry's system last Fall. I was so sorry to hear that Mr. Pearson had passed on last week. I send my condolences to his loved ones. I think he contributed as much as anyone to this hobby that we love. I bow my head in reverent appreciation for all that he has contributed to the appreciation of music and audiophile gear.

If you are new to PowerCells then please know that Synergistic PowerCells are widely considered to be the finest power conditioners made by any company at any price.

The PowerCells are what first led my client to try Synergistic. And he was so impressed that he got me to sign with them as a dealer and he has been gradually buying up more and more of their stuff. Virtually every cable in his system is Synergistic, he has the C.T.S. XLR's, numerous power cords including analog and digital versions of the Element C.T.S. power cords, Galileo Speaker Cells, Galileo Interconnect Cells, numerous Tranquility Bases, the Transporter Ultra SE and probably more Synergistic components that I am forgetting to list. It all began with a PowerCell 10 SE Mk II, the direct predecessor to this one. He bought that from me in 2012 and was immediately impressed by what a difference it made in his system. He began to buy other Synergistic components. Since then I have had a number of customers do that. It seems that everything they try from SR in their systems makes a big difference and they end up coming back to buy more. But if you have not bought any SR stuff yet then probably the PowerCell is the first thing you want to buy. And it's up to you and your wallet whether you want to get a big savings on a gently used 2013 model like this one or whether you want to go for the latest and greatest, the 2014 PowerCell 10 UEF with FEQ which is what Terry bought to replace the one for sale here. I am more than happy to sell you either one if you are near me or if you don't have a local SR dealer. Of course if you have a local dealer then please give him your business for the new one. You can pick this one up here from me for $3,200 so it's a big savings over the $7,000 MSRP on the new one. This one is absolutely in perfect condition, really nothing to distinguish it from new. We actually got a special deal on a few of the new ones that had the old faceplate on them but all the new internals, the new backplate and the new FEQ Equalizer. The various PowerCell models have been the subject of many favorable reviews and prestigious awards over the years. The PowerCell 10 SE Mk III version won the The Absolute Sound's Product of the Year Award in 2012 for it's category. There are many audiophile awards and lists out there, but I think that at this point The Absolute Sound is probably the most respected publication and that their Product of the Year awards are perhaps the "best" or most important award that a product can win.

We're listing this as a 9/10 solely because we never give a 10/10 to anything once it is used, no matter how perfect. That is just how we operate. 10/10 to us means brand new. I have seen people list used gear that is 5+ years old as 10/10 and I really don't know what they were thinking, clearly that's not a correct reading of the rating scale to do that. But all we can control is how we rate things. As buyers of high end gear ourselves we know how awful it feels to receive something and find a flaw that was not disclosed. We never want that to happen to you, our valued customer, on any of our listings.

If you can afford the $7,000 MSRP then I definitely recommend buying the new PowerCell 10 UEF with an FEQ PowerCell Equalizer because the new technology that is incorporated in there is just fantastic. If you have never heard a demo, please come in here or go to your local SR dealer and hear a demo of this technology. It is very hard to believe what it does even when you hear it for yourself with your own ears and are in the room to check and make sure they are not playing tricks on you. So, with it being hard to believe in that case, I know that you will find it hard to believe me just telling you about it. With that being said, if you don't want to spend that much on a PowerCell then this is a great deal for one. I stand behind the sale and will be happy to assist you long after you make your purchase if you should ever need service or parts or upgrades or anything. That's a big advantage buying from me vs. buying from a private seller where you'd be on your own without the support of a dealer if you ever need help. And if you should find that you like this and want to try other Synergistic Research products later on then I will be happy to sell you new products also. I sell all the current SR products to my customers of course but I can only list discontinued products like this one online. I really highly recommend everything SR makes, they are a quality company and I do not think that you can go wrong with any of their products, all of which are hand crafted in the USA. There are a lot of cable companies out there which basically just assemble cables from various materials. SR is not like that, their CEO is a true inventor who keeps coming up with brilliant new ways of making our systems sound better.

The system that this PowerCell comes out of includes the famed $100,000 Walker Black Diamond turntable, Audio Research Reference 10 phono stage, Allnic L-3000 preamp, Lamm M 1.2 Reference hybrid power amps and the Scaena Master Reference speaker system. The Master Reference is a unique Scaena system originally created for Mr. Harry Pearson, founder of The Absolute Sound. It's a modified top of the line Scaena 1.6 system with the addition of the Raven Alize tweeters. This sweet system is housed in a dedicated listening building at his home and he cares for all of his gear meticulously. No smoking, no kids, no pets.

The owner is only selling this PowerCell to upgrade to the Synergistic Research PowerCell 10 UEF with an FEQ PowerCell Equalizer. I actually became a Synergistic dealer at this customer's urging 3 years ago and I went and had their demo at CES and was absolutely blown away by the sound of their room and especially by their demo of the Tranquility Bases. They did a demo with a beautiful system using top of the line YG Acoustics speakers where they powered the Tranquility Base on and off. The difference in the sound was so amazing, no other demo of audiophile products that I have heard have influenced system sound as much as the Tranquility bases. I still cannot understand WHY they work, they boggle my mind. But they definitely do work. I had to buy one for myself as soon as the show ended and I would love to have all my gear on them like the owner of this PowerCell does.

My 14 year old son was with me at CES and this was one of the things that impressed him most in the 4 day show, that a Base that a component sits on could make such a change in the audio from the whole system! When we were in the YG Acoustics room, they were demoing the same speakers and one of their guys was asking me to become a dealer for YG. He asked my son how he liked the sound and he said that he liked it but that the gentleman should go and hear the same YG speakers in the Synergistic suite because they sounded much better in there! I actually think that Synergistic had less expensive gear in their setup, and a smaller suite. But definitely they made the speakers sound better with their technology. I talked to 2 other guys who heard both rooms and agreed with me and my son on that. It's often hard to hear the differences between systems, especially between electronics and cables, at a show like CES. The rooms have poor acoustics and there are so many factors that influence the sound. But the Synergistic demo very clearly showed that their technology works and makes a very large and immediate difference.

I have disabled the "Buy it Now" button on Audigon because we had a whole run of people last year who agreed to buy then never responded to emails and never paid. I prefer to do business the old fashioned way where we exchange emails like gentlemen and conduct a smooth and safe transaction for all parties. I don't own this and I cannot take much less than the asking price for it. If you make me a low offer there is no way I am going to go to this very successful gentleman and tell him that I have a low offer, that so and so really wants it but his wife won't let him spend more than X amount for it. I'll just ignore the lowball offer and wait til a better one comes in. However, if you want to buy this together with some other items from Synergistic, as part of a package deal, then that would be something we can discuss. Just let me know what items you want.

As you can see in the photos, the system this PowerCell comes out of has Tranquility Bases under many of the components. He's actually added more since these pictures were taken. And virtually all his cabling is Synergistic Research active cabling like these. It may look funny to some that he just cuts little blocks of wood to elevate his cables rather than buying some fancy store bought system. But I like it. The owner definitely is very successful and could buy whatever gear he wants, but he is very thoughtful and spends his money carefully and wisely, prioritizing those upgrades that will give the best bang for the buck and shopping with High End Zone. He recently bought the Transporter Ultra SE and so we are also selling his older, well cared for Transporter in another listing here on Audiogon. The Transporter is a very handy Synergistic item that replaces the MPC's, the "wall warts" or power blocks that power the shields on the active cables. The Transporter is a terrific investment in tidying up your system (as well as saving electricity) and I would recommend the Transporter to anyone before you go down the road of upgrading all the MPC's to Galileo.

The owner has been gradually adding more and more Synergistic technologies to his system for 3 years now. You can see some of them in the photos below. Every time he adds something, he notices a substantial overall upgrade in the sound and that is why he keep coming back for more. I'm glad to be his dealer and wish that I had more of the 2-channel business. When I started my company, we were all 2-channel. I love 2 channel and the focus on music and I kind of live vicariously through my client's systems. I may never be able to afford a Walker table for myself, and with my son having his young friends over and roughhousing I would need a dedicated building to put it in...

"All of the PowerCells undergo Synergistic Research's proprietary Quantum Tunneling process, the same process applied to their Tesla series of cables. During Quantum Tunneling, for precisely controlled intervals, an enormous purpose-built Tesla coil emits arcs of up to one million volts at 5 amperes zapping through the PowerCell's IEC input, EM cell, circuits and exits through the outlets to a lightening rod. REALLY want is a Gotham g213, then we can probably work it out to make that
switch for you without a restocking fee. That said, please don't buy if you're
not sure that you want the item you are buying. If you need to check with your
wife, your broker, your business partner, your kids, or the Supreme Court
before you buy, please do that. High End Zone cannot be held responsible for
any case of wives beating their husbands for spending too much money on good gear.

Please check your purchases promptly upon arrival. A client
purchased speakers from us and didn't open them for 6 months, then found that
some parts were missing. We are doing our best to get those parts for him
at no charge from the manufacturer but it would have been a LOT easier if
he'd examined them upon receipt. In general, our policy is that any flaw,
damage, missing item, incorrect item, etc. must be reported to
High End Zone by email no later than 3 days (72 hours) after that
item is delivered. If you are not able to check the item yourself in
that time frame, please make the necessary arrangements to have someone else
make such a check for you in your absence.
