This No Reserve Auction is for a gently used $2,000 Synergistic Research Transporter

A few years ago one of my very best customers asked me to pick up the Synergistic Research line so that I could get him one of their PowerCell power conditioners. At the time I only knew a bit about the company so my son and I went to meet with them at CES and to get a demo of their products. We were stunned by the quality of their demo and what a difference their products made in a system. It was absolutely jaw dropping. My son was just 11 at the time and I was amazed that he could so clearly hear the difference. That helped me to believe what I was hearing myself! At the show people kept asking Isaac what was the best thing he heard and he said that the very best system was Mr. Mark Levinson's Daniel Hertz rig but that the most impressive demo was in the Synergistic room. I think the word genius is overused but Ted Denney at Synergistic seems to be one as year after year he keeps coming out with new and innovative products. And while some are expensive (and worth it) he has developed many products under $1000 that make a real difference in your system, and even products under $100, such as the new line of fuses they just came out with. Over the last few years since we signed with them we've had quite a few of our customers give SR products a try and I think every single one has told me that he is very pleased and I want to say at least 75% of them have come back to buy another SR product. That's a real testament to how good these products are.

The Transporter in this Auction is for our customer who got me to sign with Synergistic in the first place. He bought a Transporter when they first came out and then later they released the Transporter Ultra SE so he upgraded to that and asked me to sell his Transporter. So this is a chance to get a Transporter at a big savings. That said, if you would rather have a Transporter Ultra SE or a Transporter Ultra we'd be more than happy to sell you one of those. We try to keep those in stock and ready to go for immediate shipping as they are one of the most popular Synergistic items. Those along with the new PowerCell 10 UEF with FEQ Equalizers's and the Tranquility Bases are our 3 top selling Synergistic products.

Speaking of which, just as we were finishing the auction for this the owner let us know that the new phono stage he is buying, the Ypsilon VPS100 which he is getting from us, only needs one Tranquility Base instead of the 2 he is using with his Audio Research 2SE phono stage. As soon as we get his Ypsilon in from Greece he will give us his Audio Research 2 SE and we'll thoroughly check it out and list it on Audiogon. Since that has an external power supply unit it required 2 of the Tranquility Bases and the Ypsilon VPS100 will only need 1. So let us know if you want to grab one of those, even one Tranquility Base in your system will make a fantastic difference. We might even have 2 available and of course we can always get you as many new ones as you want. We're also happy to get you any of the Ypsilon stuff. That stuff is just incredible. We just auditioned a full Ypsilon system with their Ypsilon Set 100 Ultimate monoblocks and it was without question the best reference system I have ever heard anywhere at any price. I knew the Ypsilon was something special when I heard that they don't give any of their stuff to reviewers, reviewers have to pay for it, just a bit less than our customers pay. Of course reviewers can get a lot of gear for free or nearly free from other brands so when they pay tens of thousands of dollars of their own money for a piece like the Ypsilon VPS100 it really makes you stand up and take notice. Michael Fremer purchased one which he has raved about (which you can check out here) and one of the reviewers at Absolute Sound bought the whole Ypsilon electronics set for himself. But I digress as usual...

This particular Auction is for a gently used Synergistic Research Transporter. It comes with the supplied Synergistic Precision AC Basik Power Cord which has never been used. My customer always used the Transporter with an upgraded cord. He accidentally ordered one more cord than he needed so we have a brand new $900 Synergistic Element Tungsten AC cord sitting here that he never used. If you win the auction and you would like to upgrade to receive BOTH the included brand new Precision AC Basik Power Cord and the brand new $900 Element cord then we will let you do that. Email us if you are interested in adding that cord to your order if you win. I'm not going to list any price below retail for that cord since it's a current product. This Element cord is a 2014 cord with the 2014 UEF's which are a $150 upgrade from the 2013 Enigma bullets. There is also one red PHT included with the Element Tungsten power cord. Remember, the Element Tungsten cable is an optional add on, it is NOT included at the winning bid price, you must purchase it separately from us if you want to add it on.

The Transporter is a device which replaces all your Synergistic Research (SR) MPC's or Galileo MPC's (Mini Power Couplers) to power all your SR devices. One Transporter can power up to 34 cables or devices. While the Transporter does remove clutter and save a lot of energy, both of which are valid goals, the main purpose of it is to deliver better sound. And it does that, it makes a major difference to the sound of any of your SR products. Not only is the sound better than what you get using the regular Synergistic MPC's that come with your SR products; the sound is better than what you get with the upgraded Galileo MPC's which are an expensive upgrade that many people bought for their SR products.

I'm selling this gently used Transporter for a customer who has a tremendous amount of SR equipment in his system. Not only does he have Element power cords and Element balanced CTS interconnects, he has numerous Tranquility Bases, Galileo Speaker Cells, a PowerCell 10SE UEF with FEQ and other items. The only reason he is selling this Transporter is because he wanted to upgrade to the more expensive Ultra SE version. Actually he did not want to be without a Transporter for any time at all so I already got him the Transporter Ultra SE and he only took the listed Transporter here out of his system once he had the new unit all burned in and ready to go.

The unit that is for sale was gently used from January 2013 to September 2014. It has been carefully used in not only a dedicated room but actually a dedicated building that the owner had built to house his beautiful system. He treats his gear with as much care as I have ever seen from any owner. It's not played loud for parties or anything like many people's systems are, this is just one audiophile's retreat from the world where he goes and carefully pulls out a record, cleans it with his Audio Desk record cleaner and plays it on his Lloyd Walker Black Diamond V turntable. Almost all of the cables in the system are Synergistic.

In the picture above you can see the system this came out of, in a previous incarnation. Since then we sold the Aesthetix Callisto Signature (thanks Mark) and the Aesthetix phono stage has also been sold. Terry tried an Audio Research 2SE but the gain was not quite right for his cartridge. So now he is getting the Ypsilon VPS100 mentioned above. We will be selling the Audio Research 2SE shortly. 1 or 2 of the Synergistic Tranquility Bases shown in this picture will also be coming available soon do to the shifts in the system to better accommodate the incredibly revealing nature of the Scaena Harry Pearson Master Reference speaker system as driven by Lamm Reference M 1.2's.

This particular pair of Scaena Master Reference speakers were in the late Harry Pearson's famous demo room on Long Island where they were his reference pair of speakers for 8 years through various upgrades and despite the fact that all the other manufacturers were trying to get Harry Pearson to take out the Scaenas and put in a pair of their best speakers. After the speakers left Harry's they were upgraded yet again and installed into Terry's system last Fall. But I digress...

This lightly used Transporter is being sold only so that Terry could get the latest and the best one, the Ultra SE model into his system. When the Transporter came out there was only one model, just the Transporter, and so that was what Terry got. And because Terry appreciates the difference that using the best equipment every step of the way can make, he decided to purchase and use an upgraded power cord with his Transporter (which is why this Transporter is being sold with the original power cord as new). When Synergistic Research came out with the Ultra SE model, Terry did not immediately upgrade to this model because he had already put the upgraded power cord on his and that is what the SE stands for and he thought that the "Ultra" part of the upgrade was just a cosmetic upgrade but in actuality there is more than just cosmetics between the 2 models. He is definitely appreciating the difference he can hear now.

If you do want to buy the more expensive Transporter Ultra SE or Transporter SE then I would appreciate it if you give me the chance to try and earn your business if you are near me or don't have a local SR dealer. If you have a local SR dealer then please give him or her the chance at your business. Definitely if you have more than 1 or 2 SR items with MPC's then the Transporter, in whichever version you select, should be a tremendous upgrade. Out of all the SR designs I think that the PowerCell is my absolute favorite and after that the Transporter. In fact, I've been told on good authority that the Transporter Ultra SE actually outperforms SR's older but still top of the line $11,000 Enigma!

As anyone who has several SR products knows they sound great and they tend to make you want to get some more. But the MPC "wall warts" are a really unfortunate feature. They waste energy, they heat the room, they cause clutter. But until the Transporter they were a necessary evil. Now, there's a fabulous alternative and this lightly used one makes it very reasonable to obtain.

The "Synergistic Research "Transporter" for Active Shielding is a centralized, high performance solid-state power supply for Active Shielding. The Transporter has two isolated power supply transformers: one for Active AC Power Cords, and one for Active Cables, Tranquility Bases, and Galileo Universal Cable Cells.

This $1995 device represents both a substantial performance upgrade from the standard MPC (mini power coupler) that comes with the SR active cables, and also a convenient "hub" replacing what in some cases are quite a few of the MPC wall warts.

This particular Transporter was in use from January 2013 to September 2014. The 6ft. Precision AC Basik Power Cord that is included in this set is NEW. As you will see in the pictures below, this set comes with 5 PC leads and 5 IC/SPK leads, all of which are in great condition.

While the Transporter can power up to 34 Synergistic items, potentially replacing up to 34 MPC wall warts or Galileo MPC's, please note that this unit comes supplied with 10 leads. Normally you get only 9, Terry threw in 1 extra one to be nice. If you actually have 34 devices to supply then you would need to purchase 24 additional leads. They are $15 each so not terribly expensive but we just want to be transparent. Also, the leads can be "daisy chained" so that if you have something that needs power and it's not within reach of a single 1.25M lead from the back of the Transporter then you can simply purchase and use more leads to reach.

This Transporter is in excellent condition and has been well cared for.


The transporter is housed in a hard piano gloss black plastic and therefore very hard to photograph without any reflections. The finish is free from any noticeable scratches or flaws other than a few "fine line cleaning scratches" that can only be viewed under scrutiny and certain angles. Also, as is the case with all manufactured hard plastics, there are a couple of spots where the glue / sealant is slightly visible.

We accept payment by PayPal, wire transfers from anywhere in the world and cashier's checks drawn on US banks. We will also accept escrow if the buyer pays the fee.

In rare cases we have allowed a return to happen for a 20% restocking fee but we will not be able to do this for our consignment items after 30 days. Any item that is returned to us due to any reason other than the item not working properly or not in the condition we describe, the buyer will be charged a 20% restocking fee. This includes sales where the buyer "changes his mind", where his wife beats him over the head for spending too much money, where some unforeseen crisis, financial or otherwise, strikes the buyer, his family, his friends/ business/ job/ pets/ favorite sports team/ etc. or any other reason that the buyer may seek to cancel the sale or return the item for some reason other than a mistake or discrepancy on the High End Zone's part. And this includes cases where the buyer changes his mind and wants to cancel the sale before he even receives the item, possibly before we even ship it. We are a small company and the moment a buyer commits to purchase one of our items we are redeploying our capital to get other items for our customers to buy. If you decide 2 hours after you buy something that you don't want it anymore, chances are we've already spent the money to restock. So the restocking fee absolutely applies in all cases of buyers changing their minds, wanting to cancel a sale after it is agreed or returning an item for any reason other than High End Zone providing a flawed or incorrect item.

We can sometimes make an exception if you change your mind in order to buy something else that we can sell you, generally a higher model. For example, If you make a deal to buy a JL f113 from us and then you decide that what you REALLY want is a Gotham g213, then we can probably work it out to make that switch for you without a restocking fee. That said, please don't buy if you're not sure that you want the item you are buying. If you need to check with your wife, your broker, your business partner, your kids, or the Supreme Court before you buy, please do that. The High End Zone cannot be held responsible for any case of wives beating their husbands for spending too much money on good gear.

Special Order merchandise cannot be returned or exchanged even if you change your mind or decide you would rather order something else. This means that there are no returns, refunds or exchanges on special order sales unless the item is received damaged or malfunctioning and the buyer promptly notifies seller of such damage or malfunction; in which case the seller will replace, repair, or refund the item at seller's expense and option. In the case of any merchandise defect or shipping damage, the buyer must report these to the seller as soon as detected and in any case within 3 days of receiving the items.
